Wow, that's commitment, Tom. Histon have been on the up year after year for about the last 7, and after a few dodgy results you buckle. Have some loyalty. you try playing long ball

FFS guys - sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say well done to the opps. They were awesome today and made us look woeful. We aren't gonna play them every week (thank god!!). Todays result put them top of the league and if they continue to play like that for the rest of the season they'll win it by a mile. I'm just glad they didn't have Stuart Fleetwood still otherwise we really would have been in for a good hiding.
Anyway good luck to them - like others have said they are the best footballing side we have come up against in many a year - you have to be impressed with that and its the sort of football that deserves to win the league.

we wont go down, no way are we any worse than Lewes, Woking, Northwich, Eastbourne, Altrincham, Barrow or Grays Barrow, Grays and Northwich (once they get a striker in, they play the game the right way) are all good sides. Northwich will avoid the drop, but Barrow & Grays will be top 10.

Agree with lots of the comments about yesterday's game. FGR are an excellent side. Deservedly now top the table. Surprising though that they only had about 40 (paying) fans make the trip. Admittedly it is a long way from Nailsworth, and travelling gets ever more expensive. Dont forget they are just another "village team", who have progressed up the leagues. HFC can learn from them. PS All their fans were extremely pleasant & friendly - just like ours!! PPS The programme made interesting reading (Sotty even got a mention!) Wise words too from Ron Day & Jasper. PPPS All wil be well again on Tuesday - Keep the faith !! :0

O dnt talk to me about loyality.... yes forest green were the better team but people on here are missing the point! we're hoofing it, throwing-it and kicking it straight into their keepers hands time after time, it's not acceptable, as i said, we've got lots of players who can play fantastic football, and i bet NONE of them enjoy playing the football they are atm. All i can hope for is we find ourselves lower down the table soon, then we may change our style of play. However saying that i very much doubt it..

The lads only on paper round money, he struggles to pay as it is, the away day will cost about £40 and waste a whole day of his time, so whats the point if hes just going to be dissapointed!

For what it's worth I thought Forest Green Rovers had obviously done their homework and they played well against us. Quick breaks, keep the ball on the ground. Their goal was a bit jammy but I think they deserved to win. Some of the offside calls were plain wrong and incredibly frustrating. The ref blew up for some amazingly soft decisions, one in particular where Nat went up to head a ball on the halfway line. Having said that, FGR are a strong team and as Bond says we won' tplay them every week. We're not going to win every match so we shouldn't get too down-hearted. Several players were clearly struggling with injuries, GG looked in a lot of pain near the end. Positives were Patrick and Lanre's performances in defence. Almost every corner and free kick was claimed by their keeper. Histon have always been a bit slow to get back and defend. We were caught out several times like this last year and it is a concern. Even if we just mix in one short throw in 5. Or play it along the ground every so often - teams will fall over in astonishment as they are so used to the direct tactic. It's not the end of the world. Disappointed though to see so few people there on a warm Saturday afternoon. As Spider Monkey commented half way through the match "They're probably happier at the f***ing duck pond!"

Histon finished 7th last year playing largely that style of football, and John Beck has made it successful wherever he has gone. Histon are boxing above their weight and have to play to their strengths, if you think you can come up to this level and finish higher than 7th whilst also playing attractive football...well, you certainly will be disappointed.

I thought we did fine against Burton whilst playing decent football, and we beat them 4-3.

Sometimes people call it 'decent football' when they win, and 'awful football' when they lose...even though the style employed is often much the same.
Based on last season, Histon should play long ball, and will win more games than they lose by playing it that way.
It looks like it could be losing you support, which is a problem, but the mind really does boggle, with Histon having achieved their highest ever finish last season, and fresh off the back of a great double over the bank-holiday weekend...and then 700 people turn up? That's pretty poor.
I know many of you have aspirations for the Football League, but on those attendances it's going to be a struggle to fund such a push.

Yep agree. But the burton game was different I can ashure you, if we were to be albe to get video clips of the two games, maybe even of the first one against Torquay as well, you would be able to see that the style and quality of the football was much better in the Burton game. I'm guessing that John Beck knew that Forest Green like to play 'proper' football and passing it around, and therefore wanted to emply ong ball to reduce that chance. However, it doesn't work, and he should remain as ASSISSTANT manager and not try to give the tactics out. That should be Steve's job, and after yesterday's performance I hope that the managing team can put 2 and 2 together to realise that we are so much better when our defence play the long balls to midfield, and when our midfields and forward players pass the ball around and hold up the ball before playing the GROUND through balls to our attackers or from overlapping runs, noe of this: "hoof it to the front line and hope they can hold up the ball" rubbish

as posts above, it was a dissapointing result but only one, there are plenty more games to go, with 5 points from the top....so where is the worry?. A slight change of tactics now and again would be nice with the odd short throw etc. and some passing! i dont like the fact that we have one or two players who can throw a ball, having to run across the pitch to take a throw, then are out of position when we lose it, lets change it, use a short one, and like many near me yesterday, Kingy is not a midfielder, he just doesnt look confident there and seems lost at times?, i still think Andrews should be captain, you can hear him more on the pitch, but there my opinions and thats why we can discuss it here

No, I'm fine thanks. With respect, my life is of no interest on this forum...message me if you have any personal questions? But I must ask why you're so interested in me?
Anyway, any clues as to why the attendances are dropping, even though you played good football against Burton? A side that finishes 7th does, it would seem, have a chance to push on and maybe make the play-offs, but weekly revenue is crucial to any club, and however well you're doing with sponsorship or personal investment, it must be a hinderance not to be taking more money on the gate. It seems the club weren't overly busy nor ambitious in the transfer market, and I think to jump from 7th to 5th, you need to be.
Also, how long before someone like Danny Wright is snapped up? It really would be a test of Histon's resolve and ambition of a concrete offer comes in for someone like him.

May be its because your so boring and repetative. You would find a better reply to some positive questions. All you are doing is fishing. I don't think anyone is interested in your personal life on here
