So, we will not be hosting city anymore as of next season which poses an interesting question or two. Why did they decide to leave? One wld pressume St ives will be a cheaper option, however they will have to pay for ground upgrades so is it really a cheaper alternative? I know st ives isnt ages away but its surely going to be a pain in the arse for local city supporters to treck out there for everyhome match which then leads to the inevitable question of what will that do to their crowd numbers? Also what does that do to our coffers. Ofcourse all of the rent money cldnt have gone on the playing budget due to other costs such as electricity/water bills, upkeep etc. But I imagine it free'd up some money to help with the playing budget.
Ignoring the above however Im not fussed with them leaving. Sure we would have got the odd city fan turning up to our home games but the pitch, especially this year has taken a pummelling so hopefully this will lead to a fewer amount of games being called off next season!
Thoughts anyone ?

city fans have complained so much about our pitch I cant imagine what they will make of the very often waterlogged pitch at st ives im glad they are going we would have had to do without their money sooner or later at least we know now

So let me get this right..... City are moving even further away from their 'loyal' fan base and to a pitch that has previous for being poor and often waterlogged. Presumably it's so they can blame the pitch again for bad performances! All I can say is good riddance and good luck to St Ives as I am not sure they know what they have let themselves in for!!

Good, glad they are going. The money will be a loss, but not having to hear their pathetic excuses about the pitch and ground anymore will be excellent.
Been having a look on their forum and the word deluded comes to mind. St Ives ground is a bit of a dump and the pitch is even worse than the Glassworld. They'll love the slope on the pitch. They can say the ground has character etc, I say it is a bit of a dump. The facilities are worse than a rundown village hall!!
Looks like those two blokes who were involved last season with our first team when we got relegated and were playing horrendous football are running St Ives.

What a miserable bunch we all are. Personally, I wish City all the best and would like to thank them for their cash injection when the club really needed it.

This drastic move by City's chairman must be due to a massive hike in the rent at the GW or the fact that he is not getting good counsel from his inner circle or a bit of both. This is a losing situation for cambridge football followers as we lose a senior club . For City's local fans a very inconvenient groundshare will test their resolve at a time where they need to hang onto their shrinking fan base. This move will not help that situation. Histon now face the possibility of a lower playing budget and we all know what that means . Good luck to all but IMO this may impact badly on both clubs futures.

Looking at City's forum, their fans seem ok with it. If they can hold their fans together that they have had at the Glassworld when they go to St Ives, and if it is just for a season or two, then they will probably get away with it.
The main issue here I feel is how will Histon get by without City's rent? Not sure what they paid, but losing a sizeable income stream is surely going to have an impact.

Factioning of any kind ain't good for anyone or club. Neither party's have a better result for it in my opinion. The bad mouthing by folk of each other at both clubs is girlie sh*te. You both needed each other and it was a marriage of convenience and both party's should leave on a hand shake. You never know what is round the corner....I have found!x

There are other possibilities for groundshare, though not worth as much. Before City we shared with Cambridge University Press, for example.

Some folk seem to want to create bad feeling when there is nothing to justify it.

Good luck to City, St Ives get some help in doing the ground up to the league standard and city save some money. If we were in the same situation we might do the same? The excuse of the pitch will now disappear and the players and manager will have to take resposibility for their own performances. Will this move be the catalyst for a city promotion next season?, looking forward to a trip next season to St Ives.

Give it up marke, this is a place for Histon fans to voice their opinions and have thier say, just because they are not always positive does not mean people are creating a 'bad feeling'

Sooty, I've always taken in what you say. Not always understood your comments , mind, but never been critical of some very controversial issues. You do seem to court reaction, and if we're talking of ' factioning', most of your soapboxing involves non-too pleasant comments about certain individuals connected with Cambridge United. On this last occasion, I couldn't really fathom out what you were on about, though clearly you were criticising opposing fans' unpleasantries, at a time when it had all finally died down. Resurrecting issues that had been laid to rest.
Please pm me , if necessary, rather than bore the forum any more on this particular matter. Thank you.

Nowt personal at you Clive!!!x I reviewed all comment as you invited me and all to do in both forums. Most of it is personalised none of it affecting the grand scale or squad/club correct!x I sir have never ever got involved with any 'fan' or mentioned any individual fan or got involved in fan disputes. I go speak to them directly....no probs!x. Via this medium....every one whom i;ve addressed has been 'official' in some capacity. A Chairman...Director....Manager....Player...Fans Trust moguls....or member of staff and all should know better and they take my money. They is accountable. Fans....are exempt from such scrutiny. Otherwise my lot would be on Coldhams Common chewing the cud.....honest!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X
