Saw these two news bits on the website earlier, what are peoples thoughts?
STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD
The Board of Directors of Histon Football Club Ltd would like to make the following statement to update shareholders and supporters on the current position the club is in and what the future may hold.
When elected to the Board in the summer of 2012 our aims were simple: return the club to a debt free financial position and deal with the share ownership situation in order that the club be debt free and wholly owned by its’ supporters with no individual owning more than 10% of the shares, and those goals have been achieved.
So what of the future? The current Board are confident that the club has a positive future to look forward to. There are a number of projects that can be pursued in order to grow and develop the club towards an ultimate goal of self-sustainability including the possible installation of a 3G pitch at The Glassworld Stadium and further development of the site in order to support such an installation and maximise income from it.
We have recently launched our partnership with IVC which is a really exciting step forward and will help us to grow and develop our already successful Scholarship Programme further and has the potential to prove to be a mutually beneficial partnership on a number of other possible future projects.
However, the Board is acutely aware that it needs help in order to deliver these future plans both in terms of new Board members and, more urgently, in terms of financial support and investment.
We therefore issue a public request for any interested individual or group of individuals to step forward and make themselves known to us. The potential for the development and growth of this club is enormous but without help we will not get there. We are in ongoing discussions with HIST (Histon Independent Supporters Trust) to see what they can do but are eager to talk to anyone else who may be interested in getting involved.
The current Board believe that they have taken the club as far as they can and are willing to step down and hand over control to others if suitable new custodians of the club can be found.
SQUAD UPDATE
Manager Brian Page has confirmed a couple of departures from the squad this week with both Lee Smith and Ashley White leaving the club.
“Ash has landed a new job that is great for him and his career so he leaves us to concentrate on that. Everyone here will miss him as he has been great for this club and an important part of the team who has given many years of graft and commitment to Histon. With Lee we had to make a decision that was entirely based on finances and therefore we had to let him talk to other clubs. I’m disappointed to lose a player of his quality but the situation is what is and we wish him every success with his new club.”
Updating the position regarding our two current loanees the Gaffer said “Ben Tilney’s loan is up after Saturday’s game but we are talking with MK about possibly extending his time here with us. He’s been terrific and we’d like to keep him here longer if we can. Similarly with Luke Trotman although he has another week with us but again we’d like to keep him longer if we can so we’re talking to both clubs to see if we can come to an arrangement that suits everyone.”
The club being debt free is great news, but the board thinking they can't take it any further is a bit of a worry. As is Smudge leaving for financial reasons. Hopefully the playing budget hasn't been cut and it's to use the money elsewhere. Wish Ash White all the best. Been a great advert for the club and always seemed to give his best in each game.
