Histonboy, I allways found his posts an interesting point of view and a pleasant change from some of the more 'aggresive' posts that Cambridge United fans post on here.

He'll be back playing for Histon by the end of September. This is just another example of the slimey PR wheels of that club rolling into action. They have the CEN eating out of thier hands.

I'm also astonished that Histon FC are still being allowed to suggest Leo and the other witnesses who heard the racist abuse are making it up - after the charges have been proven TWICE.

Fallon at the time, if we all recall, was more interested in ranting live on Setanta about a lack of a car-parking space.

A truly pathetic way to handle the entire suituation and to think we've in the process of loaning a player to them...one of our promising young ones...really does make the mind boggle.

Subject: CONFIRMED: Histon player Craig Pope banned for racism

Heard from a few people today he'd been found guilty by the FA reference the charges brought following the match at the Abbey on Boxing Day relating to racial slurs against Leo fortune West, not sure of the full details but FA website now confirms he is suspended from August:

A shame that the game was marred like this really and if this was as a result of him being found guilty of racial slurs then I hope Histon take appropriate action as well.

This news isn't good for the image of local football.

You can't polish a turd - however good they are at spin and PR.

Deleting the concerns and debate on the subject then closing the message board after it's pointed out it's supposed to be an indipendant fans forum is such a bad judgement call; Histon fans must wonder what on earth is going on at thier club.

The link from thier official website to the "indipendant" message board has now been removed also - it was operational this morning and indeed an "official" statement was placed on there saying that Histon FC reserve the right to remove messages etc...then when it was pointed out it wasn't even an official message board, the whole thing was shut down!

Looks like a lot objects shaped a lot like toys are being thrown out of the pram - when the mask slips from Histon FC, it's not a pretty sight. I think we saw that with the Erkan Okay incident at City - it's such a shame becasue this "incident" could have been dealt with so quickly at the time but in an attempt to not lose face the powers that be appear to be ripping thier club apart.

The CEN have acted in a very shabby way today - to hang the story on the fact they are appealing the decision beggers belief in all honesty and the quotes from the Histon barrister make it look like Leo is a liar, not impressed with that at all.

It hurts. Agree with you histonboy, you may be young but you certainly have a clever brain in that head. Would much rather be abused and insulted porperly instead of the two faced behind your back cr@p. Even better, he's wrong. Sooty has proved that. The truth hurts.

What some of them do not seem to understand is that the message board owner is liable for anything posted and some of the posts on the previous board were borderline libelous. Still, that would spoil a good line wouldn't it

That was an organised anti-racism protest. Do you have an objection? One of our players had been racially abused, it made sense.

Also I'm stunned that somebody on here keeps saying ''Sooty has proved that''...Sooty has proved nothing, he's just a bloke who went to a forum and has an opinion. You seem to think his word is more credible than the FA.

He does not represent Cambridge United or it's fans, no way no how not ever.

The issue has been discussed openly and honestly on our forum, and it has not been closed down and no libel action has been undertaken. So don't try that one...again.

Yes localfan - but there is one MAJOR fault with what Will has said and that is he states that Leo heard the abuse. FACT only ONE player heard the alleged comment and he was the one furthest away from the incident. If you or any other United fan wants to see the incident i am sure we can arrange for it to happen.
Also you bang on about how you all knew Pope would be back - i can tell you with no spin the lad felt so let down by the FA and the game he would have walked away but the club and his friends, not naming any names, talked him in to coming back. So while you and your fellow United fans will give him stick when we play you there will be no problems with your players on the pitch.

Oh and Histon MB RIP that's rich when you have a go at Erkan for his t shirt. You talk of spin well perhaps a lot of what has been said is fact.
On the subject of Sooty he was an independent person when he came to the forum and i for one do not see his opinion as a United fan but as a person that came to hear the evidence.
As for Will he is entitled to his opinion but perhaps he should not push himself as a friend to all clubs and then publish ill-informed statements and expect to be welcomed by clubs as a United ambassador.
Oh and lastly other forums have been shut down over libellous posts - i seem to remember a few months ago during the United / City shambles a rather nasty accusation caused posts to be removed from the city forum and although i can not be sure possibly the United one too.

And to compare that to Erkan Okay revelling in the potential death of an entire football club is astonishing. I'm sure you're not serious?!

I still don't see how anyone can take issue to the fact that we organised an anti-racism protest. At a time when a charge had been levelled against a local football player, it was crucial that someone took a stand to show that we condemn racism. I'm glad we did. Histon never have.

And on the issue of Pope 'retiring'...did several United fans not say on here, as soon as it happened, that he would definitely be back. It was painfully obvious. We've been the victims of boardroom spin, so we're well placed to see these things coming. As a fanbase we stand up for ourselves and let our board know we're onto them...you lot seem to have swallowed this whole.

Craig Pope was always going to return, this was staged to mitigate the potential damage of the saga, and the Cambridge News duly obliged. I know some Histon fans will see this, and perhaps tacitly approve of it, because the damage could have been worse, but to anyone with a conscience, it would sit a little uneasy.
