Perhaps I'm owed an apology now, Borran? Looks like you're the one who has got things wrong, and as Will says, if you're going to enter into a debate and being by suggesting other people have got it wrong, maybe you should check you're not guilty of being misinformed yourself. Leo has been at the hearings, that's confirmed by someone who was present at the hearings. Also, when it has been proved that a man has been on the receiving end of racist abuse, I feel some apology or statement of some kind should be forthcoming. Craig Pope can refute the charge but could easily admit he made some ill-advised comments and is apologetic for so doing.

I do agree with you "will" Footballs very competitive especially CAM U v Histon games. Few years back we would have used the sticks and stones rhyme, but today with the race relation industry they have to make a big thing about it. Wonder how much money it has cost ?
Sweep. How many time have you said something you've shouldn't off. I hope Pope stays he is a good player, works hard for the team. He has been find a weeks wages banned for first 4 games, that's punishment enough. Glad the club stuck by him. All blown up out of proportion.

i think pope should be out of the team It's your club mate and your player - but my own view is that sh*t happens in football. One remark does not make somebody a racist. It's an incident which has dragged Histon FC through the mud at the time, and again now, indeed the entire image of local football has suffered as a reuslt, just like it did during the "hate" campaign on Facebook against Scott rendell when he left us for Peterbrough...all local clubs have a responsibiltiy for the image of the game at local level. Some pretty daft things can get said in the heat of the moment - not in any way condoning it but just saying, I jst wish it'd be dealt with at the time and a line could have been drawn then. *Sigh* Will so do you think he said something to leo

The FA had an indipendant hearing to find that out, Sweep - and they found that he did say something with a racial element to it, yes. They gave him a four match ban as a result. I fail to see why Leo would make it up, he has nothing to gain from that and I do wish that Gareth/Histon would gracefully accept the punishment and allow things to move on and the focus to fall back on football. One daft comment with a racial element to it does not make him a racist or deserving of being hauled accross the coals and sacked, in my view. However, unlike some posters on here, I'm not exactly sure of the stance of the club in terms of backing the player to the hilt - acting in the interests of the player would, in my view, have been to have dealt with the issue at the time, seven months ago, issue a swift apology, leave him out of the following two matches against the U's, fine him and draw a line under it. A brief overview provided by an observer in the hearing (our Fans Director, Brian Attmore - a highly respeceted and long standing member of our board) can be read on the following link. www.cambridgefansunited.org/news.php?newsid=52Cheers, Will

Can I ask the owner of this forum whether the club have ever influenced his actions over postings eg: pulling threads or closing the forum ?
As it is an UNOFFICIAL forum, then I would be horrified if HFC were to interfere with fans access to open and messenging.
It would be simply seen as a draconian action to have Baldwin and his mates tell every football fan what can and cannot be said. It also reflects VERY BADLY on HFC
