Cambridge did deserve the win this evening but are struggling to find form infront of goal. We had a vast majority of the posession but could not convert it into goals. Potter made a couple of very good saves to keep the scores level.
Switched to 4-3-3 for the last 20 mins which put pressure on the Lewes players as fitness levels began to show. Well worth the win but as recent weeks have shown, winning is easier said than done.
Lewes seem to be improving each game. had we played them nearer the start of the season we would have beaten them convincingly but obviously form is only temporary.
Make no mistake - most older CUFC fans (not the blinkered ones) are very aware of the threat HFC pose at Bridge Road, in the 3 games against CUFC there, I have never expected the U's to win. I think maybe a point this time round as we seem very good defensively but still slightly wanting on set pieces - something which JB has utilised to his strengths during his years as manager / coach.
Enjoy your day off on saturday!

I went to the shabby last night, as i do several times a season as my old man is a fan. And can say Utd where fully deserving of their 3 points. It had been coming for 90+mins, and had it been a 0-0 it would not have reflected the true game. I was actually really impressed with CUFC, good passing football. constant pressure and superb defending. Just looked a little iffy with their shooting. Lewes where dogged, despirate and dirty and it nearly paid off, but in the end the constant driving force pushed home their advantage. But believe me, on another day it could have been a riot to utd.

Who started this thread about Cambridge United? For those saying Cambridge were 'lucky,' it might be useful to add some facts to the discussion. Try these ones: Possession 56% 44% Shots on target 12 3 Shots off target 11 1 Corners 12 5 23 shots, with 56% of the possession. Hardly 'lucky.' I'd dearly love to see JSmith dispute that... Ill-informed comment is rife around here, do you all work for the Cambridge News? ;D

why is it lucky, a match is 90mins long. CUFC scored in the 87 min affectively. Thats no more lucky than scoring at any other time. In fact it shows a sign of a persistant team. Last night must have been frustrating for any United fan let alone the players as they where knocking on the door all night so credit is due for going till the end.
I was impressed with utd yesterday, more so than I was when I last went to see them play last season (although I would never say this to my old man). However I was also really impressed with us at Ebbsfleet on monday, although not the best game we where tacktically spot on, especially after taking the lead.
I think this yrs games against utd could go either way. I suggest whoever scores 1st wins! They look to have the technical ability above us, but we are so well drilled, more so than I feel Utd are.

We have a far busier message board so it's all relative, no-one can ever be bothered to look past the first page for a thread and they start a new one.
As for our problems, on the pitch we have all the right ingredients (excellent squad, decent depth, good playing style, best defence in the league) but it's just not clicking yet. Hopefully it'll all fall into place in the next few weeks and we'll start realising our potential, especially as the contenders (namely Torquay and Stevenage) are starting to emerge and it looks like some of the lesser expected outfits may be digging their heels in (You, Crawley & Kettering). Should be an exciting season from here on out.

Best defences but also one of the worst attacks.
Id rather win 5-4 than draw 0-0. Its always better to score than not to conceed.
