Yeah gutted really. Would have been nice to get a bit of cash in the pocket, but suppose it means it's one less meaningless cup to concentrate on. Of course I'm not going to bleat on about how I'm glad we lost, because anyone who is really can't be a Histon supporter. But I can see what bobby is saying. All I say is roll on Saturday, and Welch keep your head up mate!

very poor performance, no-one seemed like they wanted to be there! We went back to long balls, which were too long, and the few chances we had we couldnt take. i was hoping a sub or 2 would come on in the 2nd half, but this wasnt to happen, and i am suprised and not to pleased that we didnt want to perform. it may have been a distraction our league preformances, but in the global financial crisis the club needs all the money it can get!

Personally i don't see us being knocked out of this one as a bad thing. I can't see that the competition is going to be much of an earner to be honest and i would rather see us concentrate efforts on Saturday and of course the league. Frustrating and dissapointing for those who travelled i agree, but in the greater scheme of things i think we have bigger fish to fry and this one will be easily forgotton.

Agree with Josh, we were poor to say the least. At the end of the day, this is a bit of a 'micky mouse cup' so i couldn't really care less. Would of been nice to win it, but would of been a waste of the players energies if we got through a few rounds and didn't win it.

Fuller report now in CEN www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_sport_histon/If the plan was to "fool" any Swindon spies there last night, it certainly worked!! Funny thing to say but, I was glad only about a dozen and a half loyal supporters,including a few officials/directors, made the long awkward trip to Hinckley on a gloomy autumnal evening. 'Twas a poor game and the "fringe" players did little to impress. One wonders why the whole first squad travelled, just to watch from the bench/stand ? (Team Spirit & Morale, I suppose? Didn't do much for mine though!!!) As someone else said, let's forget last night and look forward to the FA Cup on Saturday!!

The prize money was 2.5 k, about enough to pay the teams wages for a week.
Unfortunately just seen this quote on the website I got the info from;
And Histon’s Steve Fallon is another to see the potential advantages.
“Some clubs may see it as a distraction but we won’t,” he said. “The prize money is a decent enough incentive for any team to treat it seriously.
“Some people might say we are playing too many games but if this wasn’t on there would be a league game or a practice match within the club – we wouldn’t just have a free Saturday.”
The main worry for all four managers is that the games may fail to attract large crowds, something Fallon believes clubs can legislate for.
“They can charge less at the turnstiles if they are worried, but with the TV money generated, a small crowd shouldn’t impact too much on a club’s income.”
