Suppose so FTM, the last thing Cambridge want is MORE money!!
I guess there starting to run out of place to put it all.

it was simply humiliating. Humiliating that were playing Leeds or Northampton in the 2nd round of the FA cup whilst you got knocked out by a lower league side? No, humilitating that it made you look like a sunday league side who's manager makes tea for the entire fanbase of about 15 people who are all a bit abnormal, followed by the first guy saying 'I'm not actually a Histon fan, I'm a Leeds fan...'. You're getting your day in the sun, and I wish you luck, but I felt embarassed on your behalf watching that coverage. P.S. We didn't get knocked out by a lower league side, they're above us. Or, if that's not what you meant, you should remember you're still playing against a lower league side yourself, so you'll be going out to one too possibly. Suppose so FTM, the last thing Cambridge want is MORE money!! I guess there starting to run out of place to put it all. Well, being in good financial shape isn't something to be ashamed of...

So..... A Sunday league team beats Cambridge United 5-0, 2-0 & 1-0.
Isn't that a little humiliating.............Think of what your saying before you say it!

Really no need to feel embarrassed for us Mr Magoo. Remember Histon have climbed up the ladder to the Conference while Cambridge United have crashed down the ladder to meet at the same level. So I'd say it's the United fans who should feel uncomfortable about it all. I think most football fans would rather enjoy the journey of a tiny team making a go of it than a big and famous team crashing out of the football league. Yes, we'll enjoy the day in the sun. And the vast majority of football fan neutrals up and down the whole country will be supporting Histon.

The TV report was very patronising etc. towards Histon from what I saw. I think this is what Horto is getting at...
Bobby - he didnt say you were a Sunday side but the report made you 'look like' one given it's patronising overtones.
Think what you are saying before you say it :-)

You're missing the point, both Mike and Bobby. The report seemed very patronising, as Jack has pointed out.
FTM, I do sort of agree with what you're saying (not the business about us being uncomfortable) though.

Just to add to the media coverage - I've been really impressed by Histon this season, so eschewed my usual doom and gloom column at Soccerlens on the various clubs facing oblivion and given a quick overview of how Histon got to where you are now: soccerlens.com/histon-show-theyre-more-than-just-conference-villagers/15812/Apologies if it's a bit simplistic and glosses over a few bits - most of the readers probably won't really be aware of Histon until now, so I've tried to give a good general overview of your club. Any errors and anything you feel need adding, leave a comment at the bottom of the piece Good luck against Leeds - it's games like this that really get me excited about the magic of the FA Cup. PS Also, a quick very delayed thank you to Histon fans last year, when I visited with Exeter. You guys were one of the friendliest sets of fans I met in the Conference.

It does. We may be patronised but at least were in the hat to make some money

So very nice to hear all these appreciative comments from supporters that have visited us over the last few years. Yes, we are a friendly bunch who revel in our little big time, the village boys who's actions speak louder than words. I even heard one Swindon fan last weekend refer to the village as having "culture", and before Magoo chips in with his reply, let me remind him that the only culture you will find at the "Tradepoint" is something green growing on the walls and i don't mean envy ;D
