Bit of a rusty performance. Improved in the second half. Great goal out of nothing for Muzza. Damien Reeves was unlucky not to score when one-on-one with the keeper. Some fantastic penalties from both teams at the end. I still can't see why Milton Road was deemed unworthy of that league, that is harsh on Cambridge City.
We'll need to raise our game when we start the new season in the BSP.
EDIT: Oh yeah - score: 1-1, lost on penalties, Robbie hit the post and Jack's was saved. City's were all classy penalties.

I agree with you ftm. Wasn't the best performance I've seen and I felt we could have upped the tempo at any time, but it was a pre-season friendly and to be honest, I don't blame them.
Was humid and was a good run-out, and as for the pens well GG's was a peach.
Edit: Shame the entry prices for adults were so steep, would have been more there I feel. But still was a good pre-season attendance for City and should help them financially a little.

I thought it was a poor performance. Totally lacklustre. I'm surprised we didn't make more changes in the second half. And £10 to get in is very steep for what is really a friendly game.

Why do we insist on only having 1 defender when we have corners or freekicks. Its like an open invitation for a quick break? Also, why do we pull everyone back when the opposition have a corner so there is no one available when we do get the ball?
First time I had been to Milton Road for many years. It must be the areas behind the goals that caused the ground problems. They must have an huge supply of balls...I suppose they could put nets up each end but then I guess that will cost money that they dont have. To consider what the ground was like in the 60's its such a shame.

Why do we insist on only having 1 defender when we have corners or freekicks. Its like an open invitation for a quick break? The one defender situation is a John Beck ploy for pre-season games. The idea is that when the opposition break, the defenders/midfielders have to work twice as hard to get back and recover the situation. It is basically a fitness exercise in readiness for the season ahead.

Didn't I spy Drew Roberts playing for City last night? Aye - he was playing up front and was visibly desperate to score against his old club. I scanned the sidelines for his long-standing admirer, but she must have been following Notts County that evening (or whatever club she's up to on her list).

IT WASN't A FRIENDLY
Glad I cleared that one up. Jack Midson should play Centre mid. I'm sure he would do well there, and plaus we don'treally have a tall centre midfielder
