In reply to a number of posts questioning the removal of the Craig Pope thread, I offer this explanation.
Late last night, a couple of posts were added that were grossly offensive and potentially libellous. Couple this with a number of earlier posts I had to remove I felt that the thread was moving in a direction that put the very existence of the forum in jeapordy. I therefore decided to remove the thread.
This decision, despite the inevitable following posts, was not taken upon the directions of Histon FC or because I do not allow criticism of the club. In many cases, including many of the CUFC posts that were in the thread, made some valid points and raised salient issues that would always have a place in a supporters forum. What I cannot allow is the blatant misuse of this facility, abuse of other users and the possibility of legal action against myself.
At the end of the day, I have to give up my own time to monitor and administer this forum, an action that cannot be undertaken on a 24/7 basis. I do so not for thanks, but because I passionately believe that there should be a place for Histon fans and others to come together and responsibly air their views. The majority of the members of this forum, I am sure understand this and act responsibly. ( I include the majority of the CUFC fans in that statement).
I do not feel that this is in any way censorship, merely just safeguarding the very future of this site. It is very easy to throw in a cheap comment or derogatory remark when you hide behind an anonymous hotmail account and sit back. This is not an option I have.
I hope that genuine Histon fans and users of this forum will understand my actions and support the ethos that this site should be used responsibly and as an informative and enjoyable experience for all.
Many thanks for your time.
Paul
