"Perhaps its time that you and all the other doubters came to the fans forum on Wednesday, I am sure you will be made very welcome."
Thanx for the invitation LoudandProud...i'll see you there. Hops...you are correct...and I look forward to listening to your clubs explanation as to their stance and why. My friend Sweep can't make it...his family are quite involved with your club and i'd like to honour his request and do a 'wot wos sed' or report on the meeting for those who can't make it to have some idea as to what went off. Thanx again all for your kind and open welcome...X LUV SOOTY X

No problem Sweep...X I hope your mam/dad and siss are all ok!x
Your mam and dad along with many here at Histon know I am an independent 'journalist' on occasion. Most of my work of that nature is based around National and International issues...but I have applied myself to local issues here and there when I considered it helpful....or if assistance has been asked for by those less able to deal with issues than myself.
In this case...I hope you and others can see I am able to offer a balanced view for us 3 sets of fans to read. I have read the hearing notes and know Leo as a friend. I also know many of your players too through social activity locally. Some share accomodation with good friends of mine and again we have had happy times together. I probably know 60-70% of your fans on a one to one basis as well...so I am not coming as a 'rival'...but as a friend to your club and community.
I have also just acquired a property that virtually overlooks your ground! It is based within the Histon boundary too...so in all honesty....you are my 'local' club now...so I should check it out as being 'new' to the area anyway!!x

I bet it will just be the club stating why they believe their player is innocent. They will refuse to accept the ruling, thus still implying that several Cambride players are liars. And they will say how they want Pope back playing, completely ignoring the fact that he is a man who has been charged with making racist remarks. IF that happens, and I suspect it will, then I'll lose a huge amount of respect for Histon, Fallon and Baldwin. Your having a laugh. Since when did you have any respect for us. All you do is come on here and try to stir up the racism issue on any and every occasion. If we had a thread on basket weaving you would manage to get the issue in somehow.Whats up with you, mummy banned you from CBBC but left you with the laptop. Get a life !

Hops,
Some strange reasoning from you, seeming to suggest that there's no way somebody could concern themselves or be worried about more than one issue? That may be true for you, but it's not for me. So, yes, I am concerned with goings on at United, but that doesn't preclude any possibility of talking about Histon, or Juventus...or the weather...or my dog...
Your life must be pretty dull if you can only concern yourself with one issue at a time?
Until this racism issue has been properly addressed and dealt with I will continue to comment on it and be interested in it. You're right to say all organisations have weaknesses, but that's rather trite and not quite the point. This weakness at Histon has exposed a shocking attitude towards racism, which is a pretty big deal. The doings and goings on at United just show incompetence on the part of one man, and ego on the part of another...something from which all of us suffer from time to time.
You don't want any 'outsiders' on here because their comment is critical, and rightfully so, considering the grave nature of the matter at hand.
Cambridge United has been through just about everything a club can go through, so if it's all the same to you, I'll deem whether I need be worried or not, as for your club...well, they're trying to persuade a man who has racially abused someone to play for them...concerned? You should be. Your new-found reputation has spread like wildfire, there's not a set of fans in this league who don't know how badly Histon have dealt with this issue.
PS About your club having the decency to call a meeting and explain decisions...we have a fans forum on Thursday, we have quite a few. It's hardly original. And Histon have taken a bloody long time to call one, but what's the stated premise? To brainwash you all with one-sided propoganda to make you believe Pope is innocent, and the United players are liars.
You'll be up for a disrepute charge soon.

''and the only man who could control him has now resigned.''
Meanwhile, George Rolls has laughed off claims he was considering resigning from the United board.
The United director said: "I don't know where this has come from. Why would I want to quit after the hard work has been done over the last three months getting a new manager in place and new players and after the great start we've had?
"Unless I'm not wanted, that would be the only time I'd go, but until told otherwise, I'll be on the board."

localfan, the reason the club has taken so long to respond is that the INDEPENDANT barrister they hired advised them to to act untill after the ruling. Then, they need to arrange a time that is suitable for them. REMEMBER, part time, not like the full time clubs who could call one in about a week. They need people to actually be there when the fans turn up!

''Craig Pope suspended Monday, 14 July 2008.
At a Regulatory Commission hearing on 9 July, Histon FC defender Craig Pope was given a four game suspension for using abusive and/or insulting words aggravated by a racial element. Pope was also fined £325 in relation to the incident which occurred during a match against Cambridge United on 26 December 2007. Pope denied the charge but the Commission found it to be proved. The suspension will commence on the opening day of the Football Conference season.''
A higher power exposes your view as fallacious, copycatstute.

Given That the Fa have TWICE reviewd the situation with Pope at length and found ccase proven each time - Steve and Gareth should be very careful what they say about it . A case of bringing game into disrepute is on the cards if not careful.
They and Pope should accept the ruling , apologise as it being a heat of the moment thing etc, give all the staff a diversity cousre and moveon .
If the club (& pope) had done this 8 months ago I feel all the negativity would never have happened and it would be treated as one of those things and forgot about by now.
Is Histon a rascist club ? don't think so - urgent positive remedial action is needed here.

Why would one player make a club a racist one? and why should he accept it if he thinks he's innocent.
If everybody accuses you of something it doesnt mean you done it surely?

It leaves me bemused that Histon fans said we should wait for the outcome first of the trial, and then of the appeal. So we waited...guilty. Now we're still supposed to presume innocence? No. He's guilty.
Had he been found innocent, then I'm sure you would've all wanted a counter-claim for defamation, made against Leo/Wolleaston/whoever...but that wasn't the case...the case rests now, with Craig Pope guilty.

I thought the Craig Pope thread had been removed, you keep going on and on about the same stuff over and over again, its getting boring. Why don't you just come to the fans forum on Wednesday and learn the truth, and in the meantime lets hope you don't get accused of something you didn't do!!

But the fact is he's been found guilty - sorry I agree with localfan - the Histon fans that are still bleating on about him being wronged are misguided and by doing so are actually condoning racism. I was astonished that a small minority of our fans were actually singing the disgraced mans name at the York game. If the management don't distance themselves from this at the meeting tomorrow and the fans still sing his name at the home game against Burton then I'm going to seriously consider returning my season ticket.
