to make money, quiz nights, disco's, bands etc. in the bar, on the lines of what other clubs do, such as York, which we saw from the adverts and leaflets in their social club. i would seem a good idea but it would be dependent on the turnouts if they were to be sucessfull or not? What do we think??

it would just make the club open to more people, and maybe get more fans through the gate if they enjoy a social event at the club

And how do you dream people are going to be paid if they work behind the bar. I seriously doubt they would do it for free and would just pointlessly drain money from the club. There wouldn't be enough people going in to sustain it and keep it running, so lets just leave plans like that to the club shall we?

Some of the ideas may generate a bit more cash, however, we continue to fail to attract more spectators and that is where we should be concentrating. First home game of the season against Torquay and the gate was mediocre.
We are very good at attracting sponsorship but very weak at getting people through the gate. I'd rather make the same amount of cash from an additional couple of spectators than a fruit machine. It's less problem and in itself helps to advertise the club.
We still have a problem with the media where BBC Cambridge and Evening News clearly see us as as a minor entity. This will continue unless we either win something or get more people into the ground.
Last season we supposed to have had four hundred students for the last match on free tickets. Firstly I don't bleive those numbers and giving tickets out for the last game of the season is rather stupid.
We still can't get any advertising outside the ground, surely we should be able to win that argument with the Council.
There has been a lot of good ideas place on the board between the childish dribble, however, the club apparantently seem to take little notice.

I say we kidnap fans from all over the world and make them come to games, just a suggestion.

A considered and stimulating post Striker...X
I think anyone looking to 'market' themselves in this locality need to assess their 'marketability' to attract new bodies through the gate. Be it right or wrong...the simple facts are that the Craig Pope affair and the clubs handling of it is not generating a good feel factor amongst neutrals and will impact your gate at present. The quality of facilities on offer compared to your competitors are inferior at present too. I know the season has just started but whilst there is a competitor in your catchment area at the top of the league that you both compete in is another huge factor that has to be addressed.......unfortunately that is in the lap of the Gods...and not Gary Brabin or Steve Fallon! The PR eminating from your club has also not really had the desired impact...if there was a desire there in the first place! Recently there have been public spats with City officials and Uniteds.......again...your officials may well be within their rights to say their piece....but to the neutrals.....it's all bo**ox really and doesn't leave a good impression.
So...there are genuine obstacles to overcome. I suggest anyone looking to build or expand on what they have in any business or industry should first secure an make good what they have already before they look to entice new folk into their care. That needs doing at our end too presently...and if you don't mind me saying....so do you. Fortunately we can 'mask' our plight at present due to being at the top of the table! Football fans will put up with anything for a win I find! At least you haven't got to look for a new Chairman!!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X

I've got an idea. Everyone invite a friend to watch who hasn't seen Histon before or maybe doesn't come over every week. Easy.
