" Dc007...he said he was considering returning his season-ticket... "
I'll await Sooties report before making any decisions - I tried to get to the forum last night but by the time I got there it had already started so I went down the Vue and watched the England game (that was hard viewing!!) - I did speak to a few Histon fans after, when they had come back from the forum but i trust Sooty to give a more impartial report than the average Histon fan that drinks in the Vue

Undisputed fact number one: Craig Pope guilty. Undisputed fact number two: Craig Pope appeal fails. Guilty. It seems whatever 'undisputed facts' that have been 'accepted by both parties' it has made Craig Pope no less guilty. How awful is your barrister, if she cannot prove innocence despite an apparent absence of evidence to prove guilt? Shouldn't you be asking that question? Even if he does come back, his footballing life will be made absolute hell, which he thoroughly deserves. He will forever be known as Craig Pope the racist, and Histon as the club who supported him and defended his racist bile. Why are you so determined to vilify Craig Pope and Histon Football Club, Look again at your comments, there is only one person here with a problem... you. Just ask yourself honestly why you need to make such awful statements, what do you get out of it... its very sad.

IF the FA have got it wrong, and Craig Pope believes that so strongly that he would quit...he MUST pursue further action.
I still think Histon have handled this abysmally, not even a statement to condemn racism...which you would've thought would be standard practice.

I've read the entire first page and second, but glanced over third because it was so full of crap.
Quite frankly, this is rediculous! Craig has been found guilty, I can accept that and will have to, but the evidence for the defendent is overwhelming! Look at the facts:
Player furthest away from the players involved in the incident heard it, while 5 or 6 other players and a referee were fiddling with their hearing aids.
Pope didn't want to be proven innocent on a mere technicality, he wanted to be proven innocent outright, so he allowed a second hearing to take place when neither the players and officials turned up.
As far as referee and players all withing about a 30 yard area of Pope are concerned he 'merely' swore after being flattened.
Leo Fortune-West did NOT want to push charges, suggesting that there was nothing racially abusive or otherwise said, or (unlikely, however possible) he didn't care.
Professional lip readers only saw swearing
He has said "I didn't do it" all this time.
The FA always muck things up, and you didn't think they were so great when some of your supporters seemed to insist that the draw for the FA trophy had been fixed.
My simple solution is this:
Pope is guilty, and the FA have added a bit more $hit to their already overflowing pile of crap!
Why you ask? The FA have got it wrong!

At last we agree on something. I agree strongly with both points you raise here. From someone who was at the meeting, racism was strongly condemned and I think Histon have handled this very thoroughly and extremely well... but then you should have been there... I wish I had been there. I have no doubt that racism will have been strongly condemned last night and rightly so. However the only people who heard that were in the room last night. Histon FC should have been shouting this kind of thing from the rooftops. In terms of what the outside world has had available to them there has been a relative silence from Histon FC thorought this sorry episode. I am sympathetic to the situation following the apparent balls-up by the FA. I fully support Craig Pope and Histon FC. However I am critical of the club in their apparent unwillingness to use the club website to its full extent. It is no wonder that fans of rival clubs, some posting on here, who have not had all the details available to them are saying the things they are saying. The CEN is not the voice of Histon FC. I can totally see the chairman's point when he wants the CEN or Radio Cambridgeshire to promote the club. I accept that these two "big boys" will want first dabs on the news coming out of the club. That is fair enough and the website takes second priority. However those stories have a very short lifetime and are gone as soon as CEN or Radio Cambs decide. I can't help thinking though that this situation might have been helped a little if a full statement was placed on the Histon FC website right from the start. The reputation of Histon FC as perceived by visiting fans is unfairly at stake here. THEIR first port of call to read the club line is the Histon FC website. What must they be thinking when they see no statement on the website? Should they have to try and second guess Histon FC's views? My brother in law supports Dover Athletic. He visited the Histon FC website to try and get the club's line on this affair and then questioned me about why there was nothing on there about the situation. The only information he gets is that our player was found guilty, he lost the appeal and now Histon are standing by him. I agree totally with Histon FC's actions and fully support them. The situation is an utter thingy-up. However I think that the communication from the club should have been better on this issue.

Agree. Now, put a brief round up of the forum on the website and explain all the reasons and all about being against racism etc. Now they have let the fans know on a more presonal level, it't time to let the world know via the website.

Just noticed that my post was changed. Wondered if it was a moderator or the forum software that changed the word I used to "thingy".
