A much better performance but we still have a way to go and hopefully Josh will answer that need. It was a good effort in at times atrocious conditions and my man of the match was Patrick Ada...outstanding. Lanre was not far behind and Nessie's save was world class! I must say that when Damien came on he put the frighteners on them. A couple of his runs were very good and on another night he would have scored. Danny looks tired and out of form and maybe should have a rest. I don't think he is over Rushden. He looked very good against Burton. We are getting there slowly

Midson to the bench. Reeves upfront?

Not a great performance to be honest, but we did create more than enough chances to win and never looked like conceding. Credit to the back 4 who looked really solid and organised. But lets not kid ourselves, alty were pretty poor on the day.
Reeves looked dangerous when he came on. He just needs a goal to get him going. I'd like to see him and Danny upfront (I think we should persevere with Danny as he'll come good). Hoping to see Josh in midfield. Hopefully he'll give us a bit more quality in there.

Drop Jack Midson?? I thought Jack Midson did really well last night on the right wing. GG, as ever, was consistent and always a threat. Great goal fella!
It will be interesting to see who makes way for Josh 'The Hair' Simpson if he gets in the team.
Spider and I were commenting how Danny's strength is running at people. He has a pretty good first touch and turn. Maybe a spell on either wing for him too?
The good thing is when Erks and Popey are back to full fitness we will have players competing for every outfield position. Danny could do with a competing hotshot keeper to keep him on his toes but the same goes for any player in any team.
Signs in the second half that our lack of confidence was being repaired. I am sure there are goals on the way. It surely can't help the team's confidence to have the 'expert pundits' screaming abuse from the side-lines of the West Stand opposite the tunnel (does it have a name?). In my opinion it's better to support and encourage rather than abuse and slate the players.
Can't wait for the next match. Let's get at them!!!
FGH... as they were saying in The Indian Ocean last night.

I didn't think we were any better than Saturday. The difference was in the opposition. They were poor. I feel sorry for their fans who made the trip here. they made more noise than all of our lot, but did't have much to cheer about. Patricks chat with Fal seems to have worked to our advantage, lets hope he keeps it up, and all is well between them. Lenre was terrific. He has pace galore and energy by the bucketful. I don't see Popey ousting him. Who do we leave out to accomodate Josh? Personnally I would drop Muzza, and rest Danny for a game or two in favour of Damian. I would like to see other changes, but as we all know we don't do change. Lets hope for an improvement on Saturday.

One of the best outings I have seen from Jack Midson. He looked good and worked very hard. I agree we have not yet seen the best from him but I am sure it will come. Get behind the lads. They deserved to be slated against FGR but are working hard to put it right.

Second half performance was an improvement after a drab first half. At times we managedd to get the ball wide and round the back to cause problems, something we did repeatedly and very well last season. I must say though, we give far too many free kicks away, Danny and muzza being the main culprits. On the other hand and equally annoying is why oh why refs do not pull the opposition up for constant and blatant shirt pulling along with hugging. Is it so prevalent in our game now that it has been accepted as a legitimate part of football!

In answer to the last question, the answer must be yes, yet you're not allowed to breathe on a goaly.

i'm agreeing with most above, a better performance but they were not the greatest team to be honest we have played and the winner was gonna come from a slip up by either side.....great shot by GG but their keeper was poor and looked liek he should have got it....so luckily it was us! ;D ;D ;D i think Danny could do with a break?, he did look tired last night, the odd moment of pace and drive, but his touch wasnt as good as the Burton game? to bring in 'the hair', i reckon put MMK on the bench, maybe harsh and he may be captain but he just doesnt look comfortable in midfield to me at times, not like Aide, JK, Robbie, Jamma etc....but thats just my opinion and i'll except the replies and objections!! ;D ;D Lanre, played really well, just needs to practice the corners more, a lot better than the majority he put into touch/keepers hands at the weekend. Ada was my man of the match!, driving rus as well from the back and looked so relaxed, with him an Lanre coming forward like they do we should attack more.... we still need to try and keep the ball down more though, we gave a lot away at times by hoofing it up....actually we gave a few away from passing, like we werent switched on? in time it will come, we jsut have to be paitent!.....so whats happened to Salisbury?....top of the league

Thought that there were very promising signs, although not the most entertaining of games, we passed it short and battled very hard. Muzza just seems to lack the spirit, the only good thing he did that sticks out in my mind is have that shot from about 25 yards that was saved. Someone said Danny has a good touch, didn't he have a first touch from the halfway line that reached the goalkeeper?
Agree DJben, personally I thought we didn't hoof it much, but we gave away waaay to many short passes. With any luck we can build on this though.

Reevesy in for Wright, as u say Wright looks tired, and Reeves is scaring the hell out of defenders.

Got to agree with you Jasp again mate. Sums it up brilliantly, Ada was an absolute class-act at centre back and was his best performance in the red and black so far. He really did look like an accomplished central defender out there and hopefully that will silence his doubters and have proved to Fallon his credentials. We were though all together mediocre to say the least, despite a distinct improvement from FGR. We actually played it out of defence yesterday and the result of that was nearly a goal when Danny was put in through the middle from a absolute peach of a through ball (can't remember who played it, I think Jamma). Have to agree with the Muzza dropping suggestions, he hasn't been playing well of late at all and was a non entity last night. A good rest on the bench and he will be bursting to get back. He will benefit from it as well and I reckon he'll come back a much revitalized player. Reeves really does have to grasp this opportunity now though and if he is to really cement his place in the side, his time is now. He looked very lively when he came on and came close once or twice with some quite brilliant play leading up to Jamma's glaring miss in the second half. Jimpson will slot in there I'm confident of, but how much he will be involved if we continue to lump it I don't know. Overall a important win over a poor Alty team who I thought might have been worth a point to be fair, with us not being that much better. If we are going to improve I think it's going to be now with Josh's arrival, but it begs the question... Are we going to use him?

With the football we play you will only get the hard core fans. If visitors come along they won't come again unless they see some decent football.
