Saw this a while ago but didn't really pay it much attention until it appeared again in the "Histon and Impington Crier" : www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_news_home/displayarticle.asp?id=336797How on earth would a pitch withstand use from; United, City, Histon, and Cambridge Rugby club? Who would have priority? Do you really think all the above could agree? I'm sure it will make interesting reading as the idea is developed!

I can personally say here and now that this won't happen. Firstly as sweep highlighted, fixture congestion would be a big problem with 4 clubs playing at the same venue and it would be hard to accommodate all teams involved if it did go ahead.
Also I don't see anything in the article that says we were considered,
"This is an early stage report which has identified three clubs in particular which could play in a community stadium - Cambridge United, Cambridge City and Cambridge Rugby Club."
And Gareth only comments on it, so it doesn't necessarily mean that we would be considered as well. Also with the work on at Bridge Road going on and money being thrown at it, it would be a strange decision to discard that and move away.
It won't happen.

Read again JSmith.
"Histon Football Club could also move to the new stadium. Gareth Baldwin, chairman, said: "We are really excited at the prospect of it. Our major concerns are the time it would take and how it would be funded."

Not going to happen, similar ideas have been going round as long as I've been a fan. City are too small to really be involved, as are Histon/CRUFC, so it's really a case of making up a few numbers.
Ideally, a stadium for us with a second pitch(es) for training, with small stands for City would be ideal. See DRFC or NTFC for examples, but with more size to it.

So, if it is just to get your lot out of the shabby, which you once owned but had to sell to meet your profligate habits of spending more than your income, why should the taxpayers fund you? Every other business in this city has to provide it's own premises. Why should anyone make an exception for a business that has been on the slide for the last ten years and has been bailed out once.

They shouldn't, but from what I understand it'll be a case of loans/grants/whatever money we put in from any potential sales or contract clauses from our ground.

Read again JSmith. "Histon Football Club could also move to the new stadium. Gareth Baldwin, chairman, said: "We are really excited at the prospect of it. Our major concerns are the time it would take and how it would be funded." Read again bennyb, "which has identified three clubs in particular which could play in a community stadium" meaning that those three are the clubs that they would intend to move there. Also usually the word "also" connotes a possible extra or an add on and anyone capable of reading between the lines knows that we wouldn't be considered unless something came up with the others.

'Those three:'
United, City, CRUFC (why they'd want to move, I have no idea, they're doing a mischief with the covenants on their land)

Wasn't meant to be a personal dig JSmith, just thought it was of interest. The version in the "Histon and Impington crier" leans to wards Histon FC being involved with statements like ;
"Histon Football Club, Cambridge United, Cambridge City and Cambridge Rugby Club could all move to the 10,000 seat stadium"
I agree i can't see it happening, not even between United and City, and I'm sure spin has been put on it to create a better story.
