We have played 9 games in the Blue Square Premier. We are just 4 points from the top. I reckon that's not bad from a part time team. With the team we have put together I think we have a good chance of challenging for playoffs or perhaps first position. What do others think? Or do I wear rose tinted spectacles.

There's no reason you can't challenge for the play-offs, everyone's beating everyone at the moment and there are no real 'strong' contenders to emerge. Get a foothold in now and you could be top 8 all season.
In the end, I imagine you'll fall away around Christmas when the fatigue sets in.

This deffinately seems to be an unpredictable season. I know it's early, but it definately seems to be a bit crazy. Personally, there are about 10 teams in this league that are looking for the play-offs, you just have to be lucky. It think we can challenge, but we'll need to give 100% evrey game if we arre to reach them

Salisbury seem to be impressive so far, whether they have had easier games i dont know but i wouldnt have expected them to be up there!....Barrow, well they are doing what we, and salisbury, did last season

Bobby, what do you mean ''you just have to be lucky''?
I think the best teams get in the play-offs, not the luckiest. If a team is relying on luck then they will definitely miss out.
It's a close league at the moment and I can't see any team running away with it, however I do believe the likes of Kettering and Salisbury will fall away.
Interestingly, however, 4 of the top 5 teams at this stage last season ended up finishing there, the only swap being Stevenage (who were top) for Exeter (who were 6th)
So maybe you will nip into 5th at the expense of Crawley!

Not all of it is to do with the skill of the club. Some of it does come down to luck and it helps to be lucky. For example yesterday my team ,Hornets u14, had a match against our local rivals, we had 3 players away due to illness so we had to start and finish the match with nine players. So just a little story to say that some of it is due to luck.

Kettering seemed like a dirtier uglier version of us last year (not quite Histon level, but getting there) who were very tight, well drilled and very tough to break down. I don't see why they can't be there all year to be honest, they're the best side we've faced so far by some way.

"not quite Histon level, but getting there"
Cambridge Having 21 Yellows And 2 Red Cards And Histon Having 13 Yellow Cards And 1 Red Card
Makes me believe you are the dirtier team, In fact you have the most yellows in the whole league.

I meant in the ugly sense, but where all those yellows have come from is beggar's belief, we're one of the cleanest teams I've seen so far this year.
My favourite two are Farrell's red card for avoiding being body checked, and Challinor getting booked for being about to take a throw in about 3 seconds after picking the ball up.

My favourite was Nats sending on for having a ball hit his arm in the middle of the pitch in a slide tackle.
But you cant argue with the stats.
Your only the cleanest team in your own eyes, which of the 4/5 times i've watch Cambridge there fans seem to moan about almost EVERYTHING

You can argue with the stats if most of those cards are unjustified, or even not for bad tackles ect as that would still mean we're not a dirty side.
I'm pretty fair in my assesment of things, none of this amber tinted glasses lark, and to say we're a dirty side is madness.

To say were dirty is madness. We are strong in tackles and a big side. Which we then get labeled for being dirty, its not our fault everyone else in this league is weedy.
Mcevilly is a dirty player, picture on the paper of him clashing heads and some bad tackles in the games ive seen on tele/and being there.

Unless you havent realised Histon have played them 4 times in recent seasons. and they have appeared on tele about 4 or 5 times.
Unless im not allowed to watch Histon just because they're playing Cambridge? Also i have never supported Cambridge and never will, i would rather make love to the pope with a barbed wire condom.
