Super stuff people!x Congratulations to Steve...JB...Gareth... Graham and your squad....X They deserve the support you folk give them and I am excited by your meteoric rise from 'village' roots"!x I have been tellin' our lot that we need to accept you are 'proper' competition ...hopefully your tapping on our heads as opposed to shoulder will help us re-focus our end to this reality. Thanx for the inspiration and hopefully we will both be in the mix at the end!x Whilst I agree it is a momentus point in history betwixt our clubs...as far as the league is concerned it is the long haul that determines who is who and betterer and all that malarky! Keep your feet on the ground whilst allowing your heads to get sloshed ok! LUV SOOTY X ...supporter of a lower non league team than Histon....I bow!x @@ ~

Feels good doesn't it? Thanks Sooty, but remember, it's only for the moment. But remember, we are in this league to do well, not just hang around in mid-table

They're in denial. They are finding it harder and harder to make excuses to try and get away from the fact that we are their closes rivals. If Stevenage was within about 4 miles of Cambridge I would understand, but due to the two clubs very opposite history to add interest to the rivalry, the fact that the 'underdogs' have won on the majority of the occasions, and the fact that both our managers have been affiliated with Cambridge United closely, just shows that we really are the closest and fiercest rival that Cambridge United CURRENTLY have.

one united fan said to that steveage are there main rivals They are. Bigger club, better atmosphere, decent ground, the matches are about 60/40 in our favour, and we've both got similar ambitions. A lot of people just can't put Histon on our level.

A lot of people just can't put Histon on our level. Yep - you've summed up the United fans' problem in a nutshell. They're in denial, thinking they're still a big league club. Unfortunately... they're not and they play in the same league as Histon and are currently below Histon in the table. Accepting and admitting that fact would be a first step. It must hurt though. I can imagine how humiliating it is. The constant denials and digs at Histon are a source of amusement though. It's also quite sad to see. A bit like an old washed-up alcoholic... the first step for coping is to admit the truth.

A bit like an old washed-up alcoholic... the first step for coping is to admit the truth. Well said "ftm". Once again the mature voice of reason! I suppose that we (the relatively few Histon fans who bother or have the facilities to read these Internet Forums) tend to regard the ill-considered (& occasionally abusive)posts from a very few young CUFC fans as being the opinion of the majority. We must assume (hopefully!) that the vast majority of people who regularly watch CUFC are reasonably-minded and accept and admit the current facts (as you admirably put it). Enjoy your weekend. We hope to enjoy ours too, in Surrey

Be interesting to see if they still consider us to be worse if we get promoted (unlikely I know, but just talking hypothetically here...)

I think even if we were promoted as champions and they were relegated to the Conf South then they'd still think of themselves as a big league club. It's in their blood, bless them.

In all but current division, then we are, I don't understand why fans of teams like yours have an issue with that, we do realise what division we're in you know, we've been in this tinpot hovel for long enough now!
