1. He was guilty, and yet it was covered up, not only using 'helpful media contacts' but also that nonsense about retiring. Your bitterness is showing. The Histon fans, players and staff can hold their heads high knowing that this was an absolute balls-up by the FA. You on the other hand, together with a tiny minority of other United fans, have branded an unfortunate player right from the start. Your only argument is that "he is guilty because the FA said so" whereas all the available evidence shows this case should never have existed (as you would probably have admitted yourself if you'd ever been able to bring yourself to even examine the evidence). Your childish and stubborn retorts on this subject are verging on the pathetic. It's like a Creationist trying to argue against Evolution. Blindly sticking to the one line. Personally, I don't think there will be much of a boycott, especially nothing along the lines of what's being talked about now 3 months before the match. That's a shame. It would have been funny to think of the United fans staying up all night to paint their little banners.

Hope they do boycott. We can stand the loss and it will make the atmosphere a lot more pleasant. As for Hortoo...he is one of the reasons a lot of us are posting on the new forum as we are sick and tired of his whining. Some his posts and those of his little gang are getting close to libelous. If I want to read that crap I can get a comic...this forum is supposed to be about the game!

What a strange bunch ?
Perhaps rather than focusing on a rival club the 300 or so could spend their time promoting their own club? I'm sure Will could use the assistance? Or does Will have too many volunteers already?
Good job it was kept quiet so the police would be taken by surprise.
I'm sure the United players will feel proud of the support of some fans jumping up and down on a bridge with banners?
And what a great free media story, "Cambridge United pick on their village rivals". I'm sure there will be some great conspiracy story to be made.
I too have supported United and even payed for one of those "Bricks" which as far as i can see have never been layed ? My nearest family member is a United fan and has been going for over 50 years ! But i guess he is different, he just enjoys Football.
Could i make a suggestion that the 300 fans perhaps collect their unspent match fees, say approx £3000, and present it to their club ? Perhaps they could even invite the media and make a positive story for themselves?
Guess it's a free world so lets see if this ill conceived plan goes ahead, they will be a credit to their club.

Why would I be bitter about Pope/Histon in general? You asked why people would boycott and I gave you plenty of reasons. He's guilty, there is evidence, this has been done to death.

Now remember, keep your hands firmly over your ears and shout really loudly so everybody can hear you. By the way, I'm a bit worried about the A1049 bridge and how it will cope with the numbers of people:

You seem to think a boycott is what Newcastle did when they wandered about with a banner then went to the match anyway. No one was said stand on the bridge and protest.
Just stay at home and don't waste your money.

I've never seen such blinkered fans. (Well, maybe at Newcastle.) United fans certainly don't like the idea that there is a new team and a possible threat at their level. Stevenage's ground is far better than the Trade Recruitment Stadium. Peterborough are a league team and must be rolling around laughing if they dipped into the non-league forums to read posts like the one above.
Hopefully the "irritant" and the "small local annoyance" can beat Cambridge again, like they've done over the past couple of years.

Spot on FTM, I've been to every CUFC vs Histon fixture over the last couple of years and Histon have been by far the better side, as results showed. That's what really gets under their skin.

theres two ways to the argument; We lose money from the prats standing on the bridge- which we need whether the stories are true or not
they make fools of themselves and their club by having just 1000 of their real fans in the ground and the idiots on the bridge get moved on by the 'mighty' police
however i know which one i would rather have...im afraid!
