Have been speaking to Graham Eales for a while about forming a FANS group with the aim of promoting Histon FC, where we as supporters can do our bit and improve the profile and promote ideas from a fans perspective.
There have been numerous discussions on this board discussing all manner of topics, from the web site, attendances, programme, posters, shop, etc, but no outlet to action our thoughts.
Our club is run by volunteers who all want to make a difference. So why not pool our resources/skills/ideas, and make that difference where we think we can, by promoting and improving what we love about Histon FC and what keeps us coming back.
So get your thinking caps on and bring your ideas along to the Railway Vue this Thursday @ 19.45 and lets put some action into our ideas !

This is a great idea. I'm definitely up for it. Let's get our thinking caps on and promote this football club. There must be people in the surrounding villages and even, dare we mention it, in Cambridge who would be interested in Histon FC.
It's live and passionate football on your doorstep. None of this Premiership rubbish. Let's spread the word.
Mighty oaks from little acorns grow. We're 2nd in the Football Conference!!! Let's build on that off the field.
FGH... as they will be saying in The Railway Vue on Thursday evening.

Great idea. Any clue how many people we are expecting?
There must be so much more we can do to attract new fans to the club, and keep the atmosphere going.

Good idea boys and girls! I will hopefully be there if I'mnot bogged down with too much homework/coursework! I've got some ideas, will voice them at the meeting though!

we must put a free ticket scheme out. many other clubs in the leagues around us are doing so, people may think we get nothing from this, however people are likely to buy one of... programme, burger, 50/50, something in the bar/ club shop, also if we have a entertaining game hopefully and handful of fans we come back to us again. i suggest maybe 250 freebies go out each game to surrounding villages???

Quid-a-kid seems to be popular at this level of football, but must kids are junior stutes so they get in for a quid anyway! Maybe could do a game or two of under 16's get in free if they're with an adult? well, i'll be there tonight anyway... cya tonight ;D

I know for fact that around 30 kids in my year whom go to most games but dont take advantage of this offer. Maybe if we banded this around schools such as Chesterton dare i say, manor of course impington, histon junior and infants, arbury park, others in the locality etc this figure could quickly rise.

Well if 30 kids go and pay £3 then whats the point in making them pay £1, were gunna make less money that way :S

Me likes the poster we can all download for the Crawley game. Hope they do it for every match. I'll probably put this one in my car!

d**n it i missed it!!.....how did it go? Hi Ben It was useful to have an initial meeting. It gave people a chance to hear the concerns about attendances and go away and think up ideas on how we can help to improve this. Cambridge United are really leading the way with their initiatives to invite new fans to their games. There's no reason why Histon. the new kids on the block, cannot do the same. We collected a list of names and contact details for those offering to help. We also passed around a form for people to note down any ideas no matter how whacky. Two solid actions were noted down and are being followed up by Mark and me. PM me if you want details. I personally think that our target should be to try and increase the average attendances, and maybe set an achievable, but challenging, figure to aim for. We can then coordinate the initiatives so that we ensure 1) people are sticking to their offers of specific jobs and 2) we're all singing from the same hymnsheet and efforts aren't duplicated. Hopefully we can organise a much shorter meeting fairly soon with some real targets and a set agenda to get the initiatives going. Finally - a big thank you to young Josh for your contribution to the marathon fund. Top lad... much apprecaited. I've acknowledged your donation on the sponsorship site: www.bmycharity.com/marathonftmCheers FTM
