What difference does being in the stand or behind the goal or down the side make?

fair point!! Just getting behind the lads is what makes the difference. I think the team play better when they can hear the support from us or do you disagree???

Mike,
I agree with your opinion that it does not matter whether you stand or sit at the games. All that matters is that we give the team our support on a regular basis.

fair point!! Just getting behind the lads is what makes the difference. I think the team play better when they can hear the support from us or do you disagree??? Vocal support can make a big difference sometimes - at United we create a couldren of noise for every game home and away, some opposition players have been known to need counselling afterwards... ;-p Seriously though - it helps, but each to thier own. People shouldn't be made to feel like they're not "proper" supporters if they don't sing or shout. I've been supporting the U's for almost twenty years now and I've never seen so many families, women and children join in with chants, all around the stadium, it's fantastic to see and be part of, sends a shivver down the spine every time it happens. I shall set you a challange tonight to see if I can hear you all from my back garden which is 1 mile away from The Glassworld... Will

I've heard you lot before from my back garden, as it happens. I tihnk the wind needs to be blowing in the right direction though.

this may sound pathetic but the wind is normally blowing towards the village because before games i can hear the fans from my house and occasionally near the centre of the village but when im at the game over the other end its hard to hear whats being said.

Why would anyone think you're pathetic for saying that, Mike?! I'm no expert on sound but when I walk to the Abbey to watch the Mighty United, I can hear the tannoy as cler as a bell walking over the railway bridge on Newmarket Road...but when inside the ground can't hear a thing! It's something to do with how sounds travels and so forth, I'm sure if we had the time we could get some University boffin to explain all.
Not very nice weather at the moment, absolutely bucketing it down and freezing cold too...should make for a proper cup-tie pitch!
