Several years ago....because of my time served in the Community....a newcomer was able to be welcomed...entertained...cuddled and heard. That has lead to them becoming part of this Community. Liam Hughes has developed into a confident lad with a young baby girl and committed long term partner and has roots here now as a local 'family'. We bumped into each other casually last night and it was a joy. The joy was that on the night before Wembley....biggest game of the Clubs past 10 years...he was at his local shop getting the milk....as you do! He was calm....cool and collected. His confidence in Richard and Richards commitment was fait accomplis. Liam was measured....weighed and found absolutely balanced! No euphoria or concern....just a warm confident glow from in deep came out of his every word. Proud to see my efforts when he needed someone have been repaid by this young mans developed personna. If the rest of the squad are 'up for it' in the manner he is......then...as a 'Community'....we have won already. Well done Cambridge Uniteds Manager and Board for nurturing such a great talent and personable young man. Enjoy the day all who are going or listening! I will and hope to see many of you there!x LUV SOOTY X ...a budding Wembley winner meets Fuzzy blonde and a Chipmunk.....!x

A fine tribute to a very versatile young footballer and you could say he came good at Wembley today. Playing centre half , midfield and scoring the vital first goal for United on a set play. Marvellous story and proof you can develop your own young footballers as HISTON have proved . I hope Histon can keep hold of their best young players to enable a stabilisation in the SLP.

He scored the first and masterminded the 2nd and celebrated in the style we agreed upon!!!x To be honest....I said this....'don't go out there and play for the club...the fans or anyone....but yourself. That...will be good enuff for me...!" Verbatum. Job done...X
Histon too have a quality reputation in nurturing its young players and long may it continue...X Nice to see you Histon and City folk today....and thanx for reading!!!!!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X

Cambridge nurture and develop players? Not many from their own youth setup by the looks of it. Looking at their website and on the profiles it looks like only one who plays regularly actually came through the Academy. Such a great reputation for developing young players that they went and got how many keepers in on loan this season, 4?5? They had a keeper in their CRC team, why didn't he play?

If you notice EWC999...my comment is focused on 1 individual whom has come through as such. If I was really honest....he wanted to leave 3/4 years ago....and rightly so. I applied my people skills and experience to the situation like no one else within CUFC Ltd could at the time....resolved issues...and he stayed. Since Richard Money took over...his life has been good....and he said so without reservation. I have had nothing to do with that happening....hence 'the club' gets the qdos. But...when 'the club' needed 'me'...I was there....at his beginning....and the last to inspire before he hit the pitch. I'm happy wiv my couple of hours 'investment' on behalf of CUFC Ltd.....!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X Ian Ashby...Josh Coulson...in fact a whole squad I have saved in me own little way over the years...indeed saving the club from a determined effort by 'locals' to rob it of its assets were also confronted by me....alone. When looking around Wembley yesterday at the euphoria and thousands celebrating.....it made all the personal 'suffering' worthwhile! I also made a point of speaking to Nick Pomery...Will Jones...Gary Atyes....and several others who had faced my 'dynamism' over the past 10 years and offered a new future for us all....they accepted sincerely. So...a lot of skeletons have been put to rest as a result of...well...relief really for all!x I am still 'banned' from the ground and haven't required it to be lifted to be effective in my endeavors. I do though look forward to making a few home games next season....and will keep you onlookers posted!x @@ ~ P.P.S....it wasn't about football/promotion or owt for me....never is. I took 2 lads who are terminally ill to see a football match for the first time in their fragile lives. They saw the whole of London's sights and then went to Wembley. I cried as they hugged me as they got off the train on our way home. I then spent the last 15 minutes of my journey educating a localish Anti terrorism officer dealing with the Syrian situation and with young Muslims heading out there...which is topical lately. She lapped up my gathered knowledge base and certainly it made my day to know i'd contributed in some way to the day again. I then remembered we had got promoted. Topped the day really!x

Enjoyed it more since Money came in and the club spent a lot of money? £400k loss or something the rumour is. That's the Conference equivalent to Chelsea or Man City.
You should post about those two youngsters on the Cambridge Utd Board so their fans know what you did. It will get an even better reaction than here. Cambridge Utd, I assume, isn't a topic some Stute Fans enjoy hearing about, although you should be commended for what you did, taking those two youngsters to Wembley, it's very admirable and I hope they had a great day at Wembley.

With all respect EWC999...with regards to this net fingy.....I speak...and among those 'quality' reads is every one who needs to read it....I guarantee...X It's not for the 'masses'...just the few...job done!x The boys were bowled over....free stuff and folk falling all over em everywhere we went in London!x It's those folk who deserve the credit. I've made friends with 'key folk' in all of London and every major City around the UK and with their attractions of interest to 'the people'! I can call any of them for 'support'...and it is given with sincere pleasure. They all owe me.....simple as!x The Wembley crew are among them....and we were given the FA Cup game or Uniteds to attend with chosen seats and extras thrown in. It was a no brainer.....and I berated the staff at Wembley for not knowing me better.....a laugh came down the phone from Wembers.....tis the way it is!x @@ ~ LUV SOOTY X ...in most organisations/clubs...there's only a few key folk. I have em covered....the mountain does come to moi......always has...and so it should....or we'd be at least 3 clubs down in Cambridgeshire over the past 10 years...including Histon.........honest!x One needs to see a bigger picture. Standing on the corner of the first ever traffic lights circa 1880's! No it ain't Big Ben...it's the Westminster Tower and Clock. Things aren't always what they seem....or what people believe en masse!x...I deal with the reality of life....I learn that from terminally ill folk. Humbling it is.........like this....Josh was 11 and suffering from Leukemia and he had months to live. I took him to the Champions Day for the Moto GP as his hero was Rossi! I pulled a few strings with his mate Frankie Dettori who owes me loooads and bobs ure Aunt....Rossi didn't let Josh leave his side all day. The pic is of Josh as we were leaving....and i said....'whaddya think then Josh?'.....he said in his elegant vocabulary....'...actually Sooty I could die now and be very happy...."....and stared me straight in the eye whilst licking his ice cream. He died 6 months later....RIP...X He didn't like football....felt it lacked the discipline sports should have....! Amazing intelligent and perceptive young man....and i said i would never forget him and he allowed me to use his pic on my Limo ads....and i still do.......X
