Come on the Stutes! Would love a win. If we lose hopefully it's at least trying to play the right way.
No more excuses about youth and money! Must be other teams in worse situations and last season there was no money and younger players, but the performance was better.

So..what to make of that? Our defending was poor, enol gave away a stupid goal and was worrying to watch sometimes when he comes sprinting out. Harsh red card, Charlie day was also a very lucky boy...his was just as bad as Eugene's but he let us down, should never have dived in like that. To be 3 down in 21 minutes is just shameful! Thought first half we were horrific, but second half we played exceptionally in spells. With 5 at the back we were great, wing backs superb, 3 across the middle helped us defend much easier, we conceded 2 more when we switched back to 4 again! Rumens did really well I felt, despite being the captain central defender of a side that conceded 6. McDonald and Waters looked really good, should be given more of a chance. Curtis Fulcher was also really good and rob worked hard upfront, but there is no questioning nick was our star man today. Brilliant in the middle, a real breath of fresh air. Today was the best I've seen Frank play, good trickery before he got subbed. However, we threw it away in the first half because we looked scared of Kelly and Phillips and after 3, they did slow the pace. We should try 5 at the back more, worked well. We gave to start getting points now, bottom of the league and the only side not to win after banbury's first win. Not good enough now we have to tighten up at the back. First half we continued with this ridiculous long ball rubbish with 2 small strikers...why?! Second half, we were moving the ball around brilliantly and looked so sharp! We have to start passing the ball again and GIVE MATTY A CHANCE!

Defending again was atrocious. Some of the goals we conceded today were shocking! Red card was not harsh, it was a moment of madness and Charlie Day was not lucky, it was a yellow, too much complaining about decisions. Ref got them right. I disagree Jenko, Curtis Fulcher was our star player, the good play had him involved, usually starting the move off and getting involved again. Freeman, Waters and McDonald did well. Rumens was all over the place defensively, all of them were back there!!! Some awful defending for goals and a stupid foul for the free kick for the first goal. 4-4-2 clearly doesn't work, neither does the long ball stuff we did for the first half and at times in the second. We have some good footballers who can play in the middle and skillful wingers, why not 4-3-3? It'd mean we have someone always in front of the back four protecting them. Not a good day for the club, but Fulcher's performance along with the other three youngsters were a plus.

Ah right, I sat behind the tackle so it didn't look as bad and made day's look similar because it was from the other way. I agree that Fulcher was brilliant today. Looked really bright, especially coming on as a sub in the thick of the action. I think that we were carved apart too easily down the wings again though. And yeah, 4-3-3 would be a great option. A solid middle, pacey, skilful wingers with a clinical finisher like Matty or mateusz..should work a treat.

when we tried to pass thru the middle we looked good, even though it was 10 v 11.

It turns out we're not bottom of the league, Banbury lost 5-0. Randall returning and having wall and sanders back from illness will be a big help. Kuzimski could be back and hopefully sawyer's injury won't be too bad and hopefully he'll be back too. Expecting waters and McDonald to play - were both good today and hopefully we'll test out a 5 at the back and come back with what'll be a crucial 3 points, we NEED them now, Brian has to get the lads well prepared. COYS!

If we play 5 at the back then we lose our best/only attacking threat, our wingers. Ash White and Harry O'Malley (Especially Harry) haven't been playing particularly well the last few games and leaving them out wide on their own may actually makes things worse. Joe Peacock, Nick Freeman and Ben Sawyer aren't wing backs. Joe Burgess and Curtis Fulcher would deserve to be two of the three centre midfielders after their performances recently, leaving one spot. Sanders and Kuzimski would be our two best forwards. So we'd lose two out of Peacock, Freeman and Sawyer probably if one played centre midfield. I still say 4-3-3 with one player who constantly sits in front of the defence to protect the defence and break up play. Two wide players supporting Sanders anytime we have the ball, then back helping out the full backs when we don't. 2 centre midfielders who can get the team playing with the ball on the floor.
Slough away and then Hereford at home coming up. Games we should be looking to get something from. If we play poorly again and don't get anything then it will be serious problems, unless the club is satisfied with how things are going at the moment?

Oh dear, what a poor performance, especially in the first half. We gave the ball away far too much and we don't have anyone physical enough to get stuck in and break up City's play. City looked very good, but if you give them space to play it's not going to be pretty. At least we had a threat in the second half, but if City had needed to score more goals I think they could have done so.
As for Eugene, it's a red card every day. Born out of frustration and inexperience. Yes he got the ball but he flew in high, lunging and out of control. Having said that, it wasn't as bad as the one made by Chippenham's defender in the previous game which was awful and only received a yellow.
We need to keep our heads up. There were positive glimpses here and there and we don't have to play the likes of CIty and Chippenham every week.

As bad as it has been for us, anybody who just watched Man United will feel a bit better about the situation at Histon.

The young players are actually the ones that should be the easiest to coach, older players get stuck in their ways and don't take on new things. The younger players should be able to be coached to defend better. I think even under 10's would know to not stand 5 yards away from the player who has the ball by your area and allow him to dribble into it or have a free cross, to not let attackers turn in your area and pick their spot to place the ball into the goal, to not let players be unmarked in your area, to sprint back and not jog etc etc. So there is another counter argument to this constant use of youth as a reason for our predicament. I do really wonder if people are just looking for excuses.

Constant use of youth as an excuse? Well I happen to agree with the manager who was angry that what he was trying to instil in the players was largely being ignored as far as I could see. I happen to think we have some of the best young players in Cambridgeshire and they will come good. It is a prime reason the Trust is backing the under 18's this season and putting hard cash behind them. But we are all entitled to our opinion despite your Orwellian take on life. Still, I remember now why I came off this Board before as anyone not toeing certain lines was constantly hammered (eh nicey) so unless it is related to HIST info I will make no further comment.

We definitely do have some of the best young players around this area. People using youth as an excuse for our relegation and bad start are doing a disservice to those players. If you look at the ones who haven't played for the first team much before, fulcher, Grant, Burgess, peacock plus others, they have actually been doing better than some of those who have made a decent number of first team appareances, be it with us or other clubs. Guessing people not blaming the refs doesn't fit into your toeing the line thinking.
