Well me & Steve did, and a determined effort from the youngsters to get the 3 points.
These boys really do put the effort in. Very commendable.
But the example set by the bench is really not good. I touched on this a couple of weeks ago, and really must mention it again. Brian, can you stick to coaching and encouraging please. You are very very good at that. So many fans are tired of the non stop tirades aimed at the officials, and the poor Lino who has to contend with sharing the touch line with you and the constant questioning of his and the referee's decisions. It really is tiresome, and why the officials put up with it is beyond me. It is entirely consistent with 95% of non league football. Why do managers and coaches feel it necessary to question every single decision against their team? It is a major factor why attendances are dwindling. The attendance of the young Hornets at the match seemed not to have any effect on the bad language and behaviour from the bench. And I cannot believe it had any beneficial effect on the Histon payers either. Sorry but that was my overwhelming feeling after a fairly enjoyable match; not of the highest standard by any means, but full of effort and desire.

Almost forgot....... The keeper , Gerrar, had a magnificent game today. For a lad of his age, he came and took control throughout the match. His confidence lifted his fellow defenders, and was a major factor in the result. MOM without question.

Couldn't go today, got roped into the Xmas shop (shocking I know). How was the actual performance? Create many good chances? Defend well?

Yes, apart from the keeper, there were some other positives. The lad Tye Phillips did well. Strong lad, held ball up well, laid it off, had some good efforts . First half rather disjointed all round but started playing it about in the second and some decent performances. As I said, the keeper instilled confidence and strength at the back. The last 15 minutes became very stretched and end to end with several chances for both sides. Confidence is everything with these lads and this win will be good for them. Everyone contributed I thought.

Can't disagree with you there cliveh. My first attendance for many weeks (owing to illness), I thought the first half hour performance was very poor, the last half hour excellent and the middle third...middling. Good to see a win, though Paulton could (and should) have bagged a hatful first half.

Tye put in an excellent performance up front, could have done with more service. Gerrar kept us in the game. Though I think Nick Freeman deserves a mention as well, he made some excellent plays and has obviously developed a good footballing instinct. A bit of beefing up and he could do very well.

Sitting as I do just above the home bench, I too am fed up with the management's almost constant moaning at the officials. At any level the ref and his assistants will make mistakes; on the pitch and in the dugout the players and management should be shrugging their shoulders and getting on with the football. It can't help the youngsters on the pitch to keep on hearing shouts of 'not fair'. That's the way of losers.

It matters not one jot whether the officials have good or bad games. The bench scream and bawl at EVERY decision against their team. This happens everywhere nowadays and I am just about sick of it. I am close to deciding not to bother any more. In actual fact, yesterday I thought the Ref had a particularly GOOD game, but as I said, that is irrelevant in modern football. Constant abuse is considered part of the manager's/coach's function in an effort to intimidate officials into favour towards their team. Linesmen take the brunt of course, being so close to the dug-outs. Yesterday's poor Lino had to listen to this constant rubbish whilst trying to do his job to the best of his ability. It's about time the Referee's Association did something about it.

I thought the officials were particularly good on Saturday. No need for anyone to moan at them.

And a good battling performance from the lads. We were outplayed early on, but then got a goal out of nowhere. Quality ball into the box from distance headed in by Akintunde. I thought we steadied down a bit after that and found a way to win the game. I'm sure Paulton will be wondering how they contrived to loose the match, but who cares. We've lost so many games we deserved to win this season, i'm not complaining if the reverse happens

Roll on next Saturday.....

...publicly.....your probably right Clive....but there is a band of 'followers' who read my stuff that will tell you I can be succinct!x 'Bye'...said concisely and directly eye to eye has sufficed my linguistic longing in several Chairmen/Managers....and CEO's cases....as a parting comment.....honest!x
