Can anyone one suggest what can be done to lift the attendance figures? The results are not helping, and it appears that most of H&I don't value the club being there at all. With this diminishing match revenue, dropping sponsorship income, and less from other sources, how can the club make headway without going into deeper debt (you can only cut running costs and player wages so far before it folds). Any ideas guys?

Another interesting thing... what does the gate need to be to break even at the moment (taking into account the same income from other ads, draws, etc.) It could be useful to know how many more supporters are needed on average, to help the club get itself above water, or is it so high that we are simply drowning.

Personally I believe we have several problems:
Firstly the lack of transparency and communication from those in power at the club/the board
Secondly the manager and coaching staff seem unwilling to change from what I can see from the sideline obvious fallings in the formation/how the players are playing
Thirdly a lack of local support
Fourthly the manager and coaching staff disaplin is apauling
Anyway these are just my thoughts
Up the stutes

Correct me if I'm wrong. But isn't the first point (histonfan01) been around for ages? Do you think this is affecting attendances (like... if they don't make an effort to tell me what's going on, why should I be bothered to get off my backside and go down the club?).
If this is a strong factor (and I know there are others too), why have those in power not made some noticeable attempt to fix it? And because they haven't fixed it, why do you think they haven't.
This has got to be a crucial discussion point for any visitor to the Glass world. Any views?

Unfortunately it has been around for a long and I believe that it is a factor in attendance. The fans have been mugged off by too many boards/owners and it has destroyed the club.I appreciate the board are volunteers but they have volunteered to be in the position of power so should be stepping up to the mark.

The financial situation appears to be very difficult and when City fc move on it will be even harder. The Histon hierarchy need to be more open and tell the fans what their plan is. At present it all seems to be downhill without a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't remember any positive statements from the Board just "nearly this" and "almost that". If they tell the fans where the club really is at they may get some support be it on match day or in other ways.

I think a sincere and 'passionate' 'chat' such as the above by what I believe to be genuine Stutes deserves some response from 'officialdom' in some way shape or form after 2/3 days!x A minimum gate figure would be useful.....folk are wanting to help....just need empowering....I suggest. Otherwise close this forum......and say goodbye forever...I reckon. There are ways forward to salvage/rescue Histon's heritage. If sustainability is not possible 'independently' then a plan B should be being discussed and explored...if it isn't already.....i'd say....X

I've said some of this in the Banbury post. They should advertise the home games!!! Get signs or posters up outside the ground, in the ground, in the village, in Tesco's, in the chip shop, in the pubs, everywhere that places will let them!!! It's our ground, get advertisements up, so what if it annoys City fans or officials, it's our ground, they should have to just accept it. There is hardly anything updated on the website. Why aren't the match reports from the paper appearing on the website? Twitter gets updated quite a bit, why can't injury news, player news, team news etc be put on the website in the news sections isntead of just twitter. I'm sure there are people on here like myself that aren't great with Twitter and how to work it. There are probably local teams in the Cambs League that advertise better than we do.
IF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT MATCHES, THEY WON'T GO ALONG AND WATCH!

...i'd like to say things improve as the crowd does Ewc....but I can't!x I read a luvly post a day or so ago on FB where a fan was saying how nice the Carol Concert was up United......! Never heard a thing and knew nowt!! 5,500+ there yesterday.......and another silent night ensued...!x That's worse in my book....u got em....and do nowt!x It is concerning as the game Histon are playing...according to Johnno...Doug and your BBC Cambs guy....they say that Histon are playing 'good football'......they're plugging you.....and a 3-0 does tend to back it up.....but it hasn't attracted any 'old school' or new.....according to stats discussed in here!x It's not like HIST folk to go quiet either...Casper???...Mike....anyone? I've had a couple of updates via Email but nothing of use to assess the current 'goals' or 'state of the Union'...! Perhaps 100 don't deserve your attentions in the grand scale.....but t is Histon's history...and heritage....that is being potentially squandered.....and yes....it concerns me...X No Xmas hat......sometimes things are more important...X

I wrote to the board two years ago and suggested some simple things that they could do to raise money. I later put my fist in my pocket and handed over a slug of dosh in times of need. Not one dicky bird of thanks back, or even an acknowledgement.
Sod the lot of them. I'm not stepping back into the ground again. United for me. At least they treat you as humans.

Interesting that Paul refers to the club as "we". This, plus the very fact that he is bothering to post on here at all, tells us he'd really prefer to watch football at the GWS, rather than at the Abbey. Should not someone in authority just come on here and say a few words of encouragement and gratitude? It wouldn't be that difficult, would it? The situation appears to me, something similar to that with City. The powers-that-be are reluctant, or maybe frightened, of taking part on the respective fan's forums. Yet, a little bit of information here and there would go down very well with supporters, but the lack of such communication gives the impression of elitism, and if that is true then the club deserves nothing more than dwindling attendances. Most officials began as mere fans, so they should certainly understand the stance of the paying public, and their need for information. And we all know that Club officials read these forums, so perhaps someone might have the decency to provide some input. That's my opinion anyway.

Any bets on when we will be below 100 attendance? 2-7 today reduces the odds.
