Surprised no one has logged on to comment on the match as there was lots of controversy to moan about. The Corby pen should never have been given. One of our defenders smashed a clearance which hit Sam on the arm from point blank range. Should never have been a penalty. We didn't play well in the first half, Corby dominated mostly, but we still managed to carve out a couple of great chances. Geoff Michell was clean through on goal but took the ball too wide and missed. Later he fired a great ball across goal which Peter Clark was inches away from tapping in. Their second goal came from a free kick on the edge of the area which seemed to go straight through our defensive wall. Despite their possession, Corby didn't create too many chances and we defended well. We did claw one off the line which looked suspiciously close to being a goal, but impossible to tell from the grandstand where I was sitting if it was over the line.
We played really well in the second half, caused a very good side lots of problems and I though deserved something more than Evan's goal from the match. We could easily of snatched another goal. Geoff Mitchell is looking a handful up front, and has more quality than I gave him credit for last week. But a moment of madness from Miles Smith put the dampers on our comeback. Their player made the most of it, but if you raise you hands and shove someone to the ground, don't be surprised if a red card is forthcoming. Shame, as Miles has been playing really well and will be missed whilst he is suspended.
No disgrace to narrowly lose to a very good Corby side. AND WE ARE SAFE. So lets enjoy the last few matches and play to entertain.
