I made the trip and I wish I hadn't!! It was the worst display I have seen for a few years. Except for 3 players (Geoff, Enol and Rogan) the team did not deserve to wear the shirt today and to top it off there seemed to be a bust up between Pagey and Salim in the dugout. We can't play that badly again! On the plus side the sun was shining and the tea wasn't too bad!

Was it really that bad? Did we at least try and play some decent football? Did Ash White deserve his yellow cards? What do you mean there was a bust up between Brian and Salim?

Unfortunately it was that bad, constantly giving the ball away and making stupid mistakes, Curtis Fulcher was for me the worst player on the pitch. Ash White was very unfortunate to be sent off, he made a tackle which was not worthy of a yellow (his second) and was sent packing, poor decision from the referee who had an otherwise ok game. Regarding the bust up, I was over the other side of the pitch so please don't quote me but from what I could see and from what I was told Pagey had a hold of Salim, it was broken up by Lance who had to keep Salim in the dugout to calm things down, Salim left the dugout and continued to rant as he walked around the pitch. I can only assume Salim was frustrated that he was not going to be brought on.

Geoff crossed 3 perfect balls in to the box which were missed every time by our players,, summed up the afternoon

Not the best way to finish the season, manager will have learned a lot about his players today. Attitude very important, very well done to the three lads mentioned on a bad day in Banbury.

First away game I've been to apart from Cambridge City? wish I'd stayed at home, it was poor. As for the Salim incident I think he reacted to Brian and Lance shouting at the reserve's who were supposed to be warming up.

Not quite the worst performance I've seen this season, the play was at least redeemed a little by Geoff's second half performance, and by Rogan when Brian finally allowed him on the pitch. Enol uncharacteristically skittering around out of place, patting away balls like a blind rabbit.
All in all, a piss-poor performance from a squad that we know can do much better. Even a scratch squad pulled fom the Rec would have done better. Obviously unconcerned about trying to impress anyone, 90 minutes of unremitting hoofball with little demonstration of discipline or skill indicated to me that the team on the pitch had no respect for their manager, the supporters, or themselves.
Secure against relegation, they obviously think that's all that matters and they are on vacation already. There's been talk about sponsorship deals in the press this week, and indeed in my own small way I was looking to put in some cash myself. But if this lack of professionalism is the attitude the team are going to show they can stuff it.

Sounds like end of season syndrome, which is no excuse at all. Especially as it seems a few stutes made the trip. Whether the lads intend to stay next season or look to play their trade else where, this will do little for them when looking for a deal. If they think just because they've kept the team up that's job done then it shows they still have a lot to learn. Perhaps its the naivety of youth but they need to know that if you are lucky enough to pull on a club jersey at this level then you play hard for it, whatever the context of the game.
Still we can't let this overshadow the progress we have made and the recent story in the cen makes for good reading. Hopefully Bri may actually have an increased budget for next season, allowing him to bring in one or two more seasoned players to lead what will probably be another youthful team.

That's all very disappointing. But Brian and Lance are no mugs. Have faith in them. Makes little difference really, now. Apart from those who have let themselves down and will be on their way.

Anyone go? Didn't sound like we played well according to Twitter. Quite a few of us traveled, and I guess we all wish we hadn't bothered. I went because my Son said he wanted to go to an away game, so it seemed like the perfect excuse as I haven't had the chance to go to many away matches recently. We were really really poor, continually giving the ball away and defending like school children. All 4 goals could have been avoided if we defended better, but not to take anything away from Banbury who played like their futures depended upon it. We played like we had nothing to play for. Only Geoff and Enol can take anything from the match. Geoff held the ball up well and looked a handful all match, and Enol made a few very good saves. Ash was unlucky to be sent off, the second yellow was a bit soft. But I thought the Ref had a good game to be fair, one of the best this season. Didn't see what happened in the Histon dugout, but the game was held up for a minute of so whilst the officials 'sorted it out'. So a bad day at the office all round. Lets all move on and enjoy the last game on Saturday.
