We used the ball much better last night in the game against Chesham. The first goal followed a great passing move and the two late goals were scored following good incisive counter attacking football. Pleasing to see Josh finally score. Hopefully that will give his confidence a boost as he played well last night.
We sat off them and allowed them lots of possession which I thought was a worry. I think that was the intention, to sit back and catch them on the break, but i'm not sure I trust our defense enough to play this way. It allowed Chesham to create chances and get into good positions down the flanks, but luckily they didn't have the quality to make their possession count. And the goal they did score we gifted to them with some customary defensive dithering. But the tactic did allow us to catch them on the break, which caused them lots of problems.
I thought Matthew Meacher played really well. Defensively, when we don't have the ball he has some work to do, but he looked creative and composed in possession. He's a skillful lad with a good future ahead of him. And good to see Rogan back. We looked far more solid and used the ball better when he came on in the last 20 minutes.
Looking at the league table, only one team (Hitchin) have score more league goals than us. But only two teams have conceded more (Bedworth, Frome). So there's certainly plenty of entertainment to be had watching Histon. It really makes you wonder what certain individuals are moaning about with regards to not watching the team.
