It looks like City are sniffing around and have put in a 7 day approach for Joe Carden. Not sure why any player in their right mind would want to play for them but we will see!

I depends where he wants his footballing career to go in my opinion. If he wants to earn a few extra quid at this level then I guess city would be the better option, but even then I'm not sure where he'd be in their pecking order next season? If he stays with us however, he'll be in a better position to develop and potentially get picked up by a club in a higher league.

If he's going to leave then I hope it's at the end of the season and to a higher level. Cambridge City clearly like older players. Even the boy Woolfe they've been going on about isn't one of theirs really. He's with my nephew at the Cam Utd Shadow Scholarship and has played all around the area for clubs.
On another note, how good is it for the reputation of Histon that our rivals want another of our young players because they can't produce their own. Club may not have any money, but it sure can produce young players. Just look at how many have come through this season and previous seasons. Only downside is that we couldn't keep them. The club has got the youth side running excellently at least.

Joe Carden, think of Jordan Nicholson!!!!!!!! If necessary, ask him! See sense, lad, please. Your chance will come with Histon.

ewstute - you have highlighted perfectly what is fundamentally wrong with Histon FC. The Club can certainly produce and develop young players, but you have to ask yourself, what's the point?
The only beneficiaries are the other clubs who cherry pick all our best young players who often move on for little or no financial benefit to the Club.
Until such time as our players are under contract and rewarded accordingly, we will never be able to build a side capable of challenging at the upper end of the league.

Until we are financially able to keep these players, maybe the club should be capitalising on all this success on bringing young players through and shouting about it from the rooftops. Especially to young footballers who can develop and get picked up by higher clubs (Jordan Nicholson, Danny Fitzsimmons etc) and to children who can join our youth setup, develop and be given a chance and then potentially move up the leagues (Jim Stevenson, Jay Dowie etc), as well as all the players that have come through and are playing at this level or around it (Salim Relizani, Curtis Fulcher, Nick Freeman etc).
The club should be doing all they can to get these facts out there. You never know, it may result in us keeping decent players long enough to actually do something other than being in relegation scraps.

Miles is a loss. Has been excellent at centre back.
Freeman has done very little this season. Joe Carden, Sam Ives and Jordan Nicholson have all comfortably played better. Money could have been spent better category.

Shame to lose two decent players at this time, but have to wish them both well. Would we have got anything for them? Remember going to Telford who were top of the conference north after we had lost a lot of good players a few seasons ago think we lost 3-2 with Salim ending up in goal, so who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Fallon should go out and let the lads play football. Get the ball on the deck and let them show their stuff. We've got nothing to lose and playing direct just results in the team defending most of the game with few attacks. Let them have some freedom and blooming well go for it.
