Well it took us a while but we grew into the game. Just a shame we made those few mistakes to hand them the lead. It was the same things we'd seen in pre season. As mentioned before our marking has to improve and to a man we have to be tighter as we were giving their wingers a field day to begin with and showing far too much respect in general.
Perfect example was Elks. In the first half he would go to shut down his man and then not back himself to fully close, out of fear of getting turned or getting caught out of position. Second half however, he backed himself and was right onto his man every time. This started to happen all over the park. The passing improved too and we started to open them up more. Unwin came into the game more, Gould proved why he should start next game and although Gwynne was caught a little cold by the pace of the game, he soon found his feet and did very well and it was nice to see him run at the defence. So it was good to see a much improved second half which I feel deserved at least one goal.
All in all, there is no doubt that there are things to work on, but you can see the essence of a solid team there. Just need to be brave, back ourselves and get a more iron mentality going and the wins will come.

Have to agree with your summary hfc08stutes, thought egham looked a good side so second half performance was encouraging, particularly when our subs were introduced and we upped the tempo. We kept at it and our fitness levels looked good. We still need to improve our play near our opponents goal but I think that will come as the games go on. We did pass better in the second half but spent a lot of the first lumping balls forward which was not very effective. I think we will have a better season this year and hope we can encourage more people along with a few wins, what a shame the gates are so low (guess its holiday time) but hopefully we can stay within budget over the whole season and remain competitive.
