Relegation is a funny thing, on previous occasions I've been frustrated and angry about going down but today I feel massively proud of the players for what they have achieved in the second half of the season. Of course I am gutted we are going down but what the lads have done is highly commendable. I hope Lance and some of the team will stay next season but we will have to wait and see. I hope to see a large away support on Saturday at Kempston because the players deserve it! Heads up and move forward Stutes

Yes , they gave it a good try but all the damage was done before Christmas so down we go yet again. The ECL doesn't seem to be a bad little league , certainly the crowds are on a par with SLC , so perhaps we can be successful next season and get back up again if the team can stay together.

Yes great effort from the lads, Lance and the management team and all those who volunteer at the club. Brilliant to keep us alive for so long into the season after such a poor start. Hope at some point we will find a level where our finances can give us a chance to compete over the whole season. Must just mention Max York who has led by example all season despite the many set backs, really proper.

Must say I agree. Today didn't feel as gutting as I thought it would, despite that last minute sucker punch which really wasn't deserved in the slightest. What Lance and co have done has been remarkable and at 1 stage, we were a point and a game in hand away from climbing out of the relegation zone. There's no doubt that had he been in charge from the beginning with the team we have finished the season with, we would have been safe. I haven't yet bothered to go back through the table but I did see today that after 6 games we only had 1 pt 18 conceded and 2 scored so it goes to show how much we picked up.
Barring any twists and turns in the AGM cup (Fleet) then UCL it is, right back where the dream first started. (Do wonder whether after each relegation certain people from a previous regime ever feel bad about leaving the club drop off the edge of a cliff?) just a thought. Anyway now we know our fate we can start beginning to plan next season. I know everyone deserves a break from a tough campaign and no doubt they'll get that but I think comings and goings, or at least the later, for now, need to be confirmed ASAP so we know what we're left playing with for next season and which personnel we should be aiming to bring in. Would also be good if the club at some point could let us know about the state of play behind the scenes, ie, what debt is left, how close we are to becoming fully sustainable if the 4g is any closer to realisation, academy situ etc. Transparency is so important, keeping the fans in the loop builds up trust and helps in retaining them. We then can understand how we can all work together to ensure we have more successful campaigns in the future.

Can't say I was gutted either. The expected relegation has already had a few months to sink in, so no great surprise. The damage was done preseason, not being prepared for the campaign.
But I'm immensely proud of the team. They have given their all, both in yesterday's match and the second half of the season. And I expect us to be far more competitive next season. I hope we can hang onto the spine of a good side, and not start from scratch again come August. Also, we have one of the best records of all the bottom 2 teams at this level, so may get a reprieve if there are not 12 teams prepared to accept promotion.

Apart from feeling deflated about being relegated it was on the cards for so long that HFC were a club in crisis. Ok there have been some signs of improvement on the pitch over the last 10 games or so but it not just on the field the club have struggled. Whichever league we are playing in next season hardly matters, what does matter is to be recognised as a well ordered club both on and off the pitch. Hopefully the current coaching staff will remain and get together a squad of committed players ready for a solid start to the season. Elsewhere, a bit more clarity regarding the running at the club seems to continue to being an issue, though why this is so I'm not sure. Favourite bit this season - the loyal band of travelling HFC supporters at some very featureless grounds and counting how many times Lynn and John wander round. Worst bit this season - relegation and the number of needless bookings and sending offs due to pathetic indiscipline on the part of (certain) HFC players.

Parsnips, some of the sending offs were down to poor officials on the pitch, Lewis Clayton springs to mind recently.

A tremendous effort by the team (management, players, staff, fans) since new year nearly pulled off the escape, but he damage was done before New Year: 2016: 23 games 9 points (21st best in league) 2017: 18 games 25 points (10th best in league) Speaks for itself.
Hope Lance and others stay to get HFC back up.

Parsnips, some of the sending offs were down to poor officials on the pitch, Lewis Clayton springs to mind recently. I agree that some of the officials in this league have been woeful (and I believe the ref who sent Lewis off acknowledged his error after the game). However I was thinking more of the pointless back chatting and aggressive attitude towards the refs and their assistants from certain players.

Lance and his staff deserve a lot of credit for almost pulling off the miracle. They took over in a terrible situation and did extremely well under the circumstances. The players under Lance deserve credit for their performances. Hopefully some will stay. It will be very interesting to see what squad can be assembled. With Mildenhall going up and Soham staying up (possibly), there will be stiff competition for players.
Those in charge on the playing side previously should never have been involved and were part of the reason for the situation Lance faced. Hopefully the issues off the field are in hand. The youth teams seem to have really gone off the boil this season, whatever happened there needs addressing asap!
