Very much appreciated reading your sensible and balanced post. I am sure you will enjoy your visit to the Village, if of course you succeed in that little matter of overcoming Northampton! Hopefully, that will be the case, as i am pretty confident that the game will be played here and in front of the cameras. I agree with you that the tie would lose some of its flavour at Elland Rd and there is no gaurantee that the gate would be big enough financially to warrant a move for us, considering the TV revenues at the Glassworld would be close to £80k. You asked about our Village, so its worth filling you in a little. Yes, there are a number of pubs as you mentioned and somehow they all keep going. Population, i believe at the last count was around 5k and it is fair to say that the vast majority of supporters live within a few minutes of the ground. However, we do pick up support from the fringes of Cambridge which is just a couple of miles up the road, along with other nearby villages. As for a big money backer, the answer is no, that is not the case. The success has been achieved by an astute Chairman along with some excellent sponsors and shrewd signings by management. Supporters are also another vital ingredient, while there may only be a hard core of around 600 , most people know each other either personally or from regular sight and it does make for a great football environment.

Thanks for that Ezekiel and thanks also for the valuable info on Histon. The fact that you have acheived all this success without a big money backer makes it even more remarkable and is a great credit to your Chairman and everyone connected with the club.As you will be aware money tends to talk even in non league circles so it's really refreshing to see a side like Histon thriving through good accountancy and clever acquisitions to the playing squad.Unfortunately for me my other club Workington are going in the opposite direction. From being in a similar position to yourselves two seasons ago (3rd in Conference North and would have been promoted automatically but for Spennymoors points being expunged) they have now enforced a pay cut which has seen several of their top earners leave the club to play for Penrith, who are 4 divisions lower but are owned by a multi - millionaire and I will be amazed if they are not relegated with the skeleton staff they have left.Sorry for being such a misery especially whilst you and your mates must be on a crest of a wave but if you wouldn't mind could you fill me in on one more thing please. Why do they call you The Stutes?

the nickname 'stutes' came from the clubs former name of Histon Institute, we lost institute from our name in 1960

Must admite, the more I've read up on Histon the more I'm fascinated by such a wonderful little club. I reckon we could've learnt a thing or 2 about accountancy from this club several years ago :-(

Some welcome comments there, although very sorry to hear about Workington. I remember years ago when they were in the football legue and had a rather talented midfielder Tony Geidmentis i believe ,sorry showing my age now! As for our story, i think it is a truly fantastic one and should really appeal to people in relation to media coverage, really put us on the map and no more than we deserve.

Respect Ezekiel you certainly know your football! I caught about the last three seasons of the football league so did see "Giddy" play but I was only a nipper so don't remember too much about it except what I have read in books and seen on tv.Great to see that the game is to be televised regardless of your opposition and also our replay at Northampton is on Setanta on monday night so you'll get the chance to size up your opposition whoever they turn out to be.You should also be guaranteed a bumper turnout for the Kettering game this saturday so I imagine if your a Histon fan life doesn't get much better than this! As far as Leeds are concerned this week has a massive bearing on our whole season and it hasn't started too well with us going out of the Carling Cup tonight at Derby.A win tonight would have meant a place in the last eight and more than likely big name opposition so has to go down as another missed opportunity, one of many in recent times.Didn't manage to get there tonight but listened online on LUTV and from the sounds of it they only woke up after half an hour by which time they were already two down. They did reduce the deficit before half time and bossed the second half by a mile but couldn't score another so this slow start to matches and Beckfords goals drying up recently is worrying and untimely to say the least. With a massive derby on saturday and the replay to come on monday they need to sort things quickly. On a better note our boy wonder Fabian Delph has been selected for the U21's even though he's only just turned 18.Keep your eye out for him because he really is a bit special.I've decided that whatever happens on monday night I'm going to come and watch you play at Barrow because I'm absolutely fascinated by what your club has acheived and it's only about an hour for me by car or train.I hope you do the double over them too because I can't stand the gloating b*****ds.Look forward to meeting some of you one way or the other!

Very interestring comments from a fellow leeds fan which appear to have a slightly negative tone - even after listening to our "in house" commentary from last night!
Myself and the other 3500 away fans who were there last night saw the best Leeds performance of the season by some distance (and I've seen every home and away game so can vouch for it) and our rendition at the end of "we played you off the park" summed it up perfectly..even Paul Jewell said we "battered" them!!
There's nothing worrying us too much at the minute apart from fixture congestion and our wonderboy leaving in January...and its a long time since I've left an away end after a defeat and seen so many smiling faces!!
Given our game this Saturday is a local derby and a 30k crowd bringing its own pressure, I expect to see many changes for the cup replay on Monday and wouldn't be at all surprised if we go out - I hope not given my comments in my 1st email but would gladly swap that for a clear run through to promotion anyday!!

I hope that you don't go out. No disrespect to Northampton, but Histon v Leeds has such a magical ring to it for Histon fans. 10 years ago Leeds were playing at Old Trafford and Histon were playing on some village rec! (cue: "you still are!" from United fans) Plus I'd have to re-write the new front page of FGH! Online Issue #4 ( www.fghonline.co.uk) that I'm desperately hoping to get published before the FA Cup game.
