So the wind blew.
The turnstile operator was giving old pound coins in the change.
Oliver, the new goalkeeper (who couldn't play last week because the secretary forgot to register him!!) gets injured in the warm up  - but plays the full game. Sadly had he been fit he may have stopped the first two goals.
Gouldy returns to the team and scores a header and a finishes a fine run chipping the goalkeeper.
The referee then made the worst decision (and haven't we seen some in this league?) I have seen for a long time booking Rukky (?) for a dive in the box, when he been oh so clearly fouled.
Joe Sutton then makes the worst decision I have seen a player make by trying a cross field pass, straight to a Stanway player (leading to their winning goal.
The referee then decides there are only 2 minutes extra time, when surely there was nearer 5 minutes - he blows the final whistle.
Stanway No 6 turns to the Histon supporters behind the goal waves his arms in the air and shouts 'f**k you'.
The referee receives a 'frosty' reception as he leaves the pitch.

However I think everyone associated with Histon was disappointed to hear 4 first team regulars had gone to Berlin for the weekend. Certainly in a game we could have won, how can these 4 let their teammates and travelling supporters down? (but then again how many times have players been absent from games this season due to other commitments (holidays, stag weekends, cricket matches!!)

My guess is we will hear as much about their absences as we have about the 3G.............sssssssshhhhhhhh

Agree with your review of yesterday Parsnip and you raise an interesting point about absent players. I can't fault the lads that played and with a bit more luck we could have got something out of it. Thought York (as ever) Gould and Pat were very good.Like to see more of the lad that came on to the left wing in the second half. As for the mistake which led to their third it seems odd that players don't just hoof the ball out and reset when under pressure surely better than a 30 yard diagonal back pass which lets the opposition in just after we had got level. Not sure what the accepted thing is about players being absent at this level, everyone is entitled to time off from their job so I suppose it comes down to when the Manager sees it as a problem.

Seems like everything that could have gone against us on Saturday did. Very frustrating especially when one of the opposite numbers is giving it large and you know for a fact we should have had them well beaten. Credit to the keeps for playing the whole game despite picking up that injury and nice to see Danny back and amongst the goals. He's been missed these past 3/4 weeks but hopefully, he'll stay fit and injury free as he's certainly a huge part of our promotion chances. As for the players missing, I guess I'm on the fence. The level we are at means that inevitably we will sometimes have absences due to various reasons, I get that. However, if the club does harbour any serious ambitions of getting back up a level or two then surely we have to try and adopt the most professional approach we can? We may be step 5 but, it's still semi-professional football. The club has got to be careful that this sort of occurrence doesn't come about too often because there are 150 or so paying customers, who spend their hard-earned supporting the club and if you p$ss too many of them off then they won't bother turning up anymore. The loyalty that they have shown over the years surely at the very least warrants some reciprocation from the club/team?

Anyway, we need to get back on it again and have another run to take us through nicely into the new year and set us up for a top 5 finish. I have no doubt that with everyone back (regularly) and fit we can achieve this.
