Can one of the Leeds crew please send me a PM on here and I'll speak on the phone. This thread is going to spiral out of control and we'll have kids, their grandparents and their dogs playing soon. Need to establish numbers, ages and abilities of the visiting team so we can send out an appropriate team to play. If you send me a PM then we can chat on the phone... Ta FTM I have left a message for him to get in touch

OK - here's the craic. After chatting to the Leeds lads we agreed that due to ages, abilities and numbers it would be better to arrange some sort of 5-A-Side tournament where we can mix and change teams. Rather than risk heart-attacks and also injuries due to some playing in studs and some in trainers on the grass. Now the perfect solution would have been to pop into Impington Village College and use their nice sports hall. However the badminton players have booked the afternoon slots and they aren't prepared to move over to the gym (apparently the ceiling is too low! ) So instead I have booked Sawston Village College AstroTurf for 2pm until 4pm on Saturday. This is floodlit so we'll get the full 2 hours and we can play some sort of tournament. Can play it by ear once we see who arrives. Means everybody who can make it will get a turn playing and those who need a breather can sit out a game. Sorry that it's a bit out of the way, but I figured if we can get to Weymouth and Woking then we can get to Sawston! This thread is ideal for sorting out transport, lifts etc. The Leeds lads have the address CB22 3BP and they're up for a beer afterwards (and even all evening in town if people wish) to discuss how we think the Big Lads' game will go on Sunday. So if you're coming then see you Saturday before 2pm (enough time to get changed) at Sawston Village College and we'll sort out how we're going to use the 2 hours best once everybody is there. Cost: £50 for 2 hours slot. Split between each person that turns up I think that is very reasonable. It's traditional for the home team to chip in a small amount to the whip for the away team's first round. That shouldn't cost too much either. FGH... as they say in Sawston!

No worries. Bit concerned it's gone all quiet in the Histon camp. Hope they're not scratching their heads thinking "where's Sawston?"

Yeahhh... Hmmmm. I'm not so sure about 5 a side? Isn't that more energetic and physically demanding than an 11 a side game? Anyway I'm not so sure how I would get down there...

Nor me, Surely we can use the five a side goals up the rec? and the pitch is already made, or if your talking about astro then there is one up the rec aswell?

Nah - it's Astro 5-A-Side so not as bad as in the sports hall. We can play serveral games over the two hour slot so plenty of time for a rest. I'm sure people will drive there and some will have space. I'll have space for 3 if anybody needs a lift there and back.
So who is up for it..... ??

Excellent choice of 5 a side means I don't have to play. I assume it will be in The Vue after the game?
