OK it's old news now (but i've been away). Just thought a few of comments on the CUFC message board regarding Ben Farrell's appeal failure would be of intrest to a few on here:
This decision is just the FA playing politics, they want to be seen as backing the ref's.
Anyone with more than half a brain can see that there is no way Farrell stepping on a cheats foot could be misconstrued as violent conduct.
That's really put me in a bad mood, anyone with half a brain can see there was no intent in what he did! Or don't the FA have that between them?
Joke, no way should that red card stand, not that I expected the FA to come to their senses but it still upsets me when they don’t admit that the ref was wrong. So you get a 3 match ban for a "miss-timed" tackle (certainly nothing more than that) but you if you are racist to another player (when the FA have been trying to kick racism out of football for years) then you get a 4 match ban, where are the guidelines for discipline?
This is just another case of the FA not doing their jobs properly.
Ahh, so that's why they're so useless. They make money for agreeing with stupid decisions. No wonder appeals are so rarely upheld.
Unfortunetly as the man in black clearly hasn't the balls to admit he was wrong the FA have clearly decided they must be seemn to back their man.
Well it is bad enough he got sent off but for the FA to reject the appeal and support the ref in his decision what a joke! It wasn't a red card, ok so the ref made a bad decision but the FA will have looked over and over at the tackle so there is no excuse for them. That a joke.
Referees will often take a look at things if they're asked - not sure if anyone approached him after the game. Looking at the replay I can actually see what I think the referee "saw" if you will...the motion of Ben's foot coming down in a stamping motion, but when you look at the replay it seems pretty clear it wasn't intentional and not even a tackle as Westcarr pulled out..!
Mistakes happen and it's referees refusal to re-visit decisions which create such ill-feeling in the game.
But Big Lee got away with clearly saying "You are f**king sh*t" to the same linesman later in the game. 'Respect' to Lee for that, he was right!
i watched the game again on tv yesterday. westcarr's reaction was disgraceful. at worst farrell stepped on his toes, meanwhile westcarr was rolling about clutching his left knee. all this about respect for the referee! it works both ways. he never allowed the game to flow and let some rough kettering challenges go unpunished. the tackle on holroyd in the 2nd half was shocking. worse than farrells. its not sour grapes because we lost but mr creighton was very very poor. lets hope the bigwigs at the f.a use their common sense please.
I'm sure i'll get the usual reaction from the likes of Will (passion pride Dad's Army), Fartooo Magicow and Local Fantasy. "lets move on, it doesnt compare". etc, etc, etc.........................................
