Agreed. The time will come, and I think it will be soon, but for the moment we need to seriousely consider a better brand of football. I'm all for long ball, but it can not be used all the time, it can only be for about 10-15% or the time.

As i say, this may not be true, my source is a utd fan so as I say there maybe nothing in it, but apparently these rumours where flying about the shabby today, then it must not be true In view of the statement on the Histon website today, you might consider giving the name of your "contact" to the club as he may well be able to help the police with any inquiries over this issue. Any idiots out there who will stoop to unlawful ends in order to undermine the work being done at Histon F C need to be rounded up and made an example of. Don't let them get away with it as they will only put their spiteful and poisonous minds to hatching another attempt to destroy our club.

From the confguide message board
"ChrisVesseyCUFC Tue 30-Sep-2008 16:14:38 authenticated user: CHRISVESSEY (id=7434) [ views 561 ] [ Message 1067156, a follow-up to none ] [ return to index ] ....i might as well try and defend myself a little here, as some of you lot have got the wrong end of the stick!
On Sunday night i received an email from a non-league weekly journalist with a press release about Histon's financial worries, of which have been rumoured for a while. I decided to put it on amberarmy.net as it is relevant to Cambridge United and the BSP, as i would if anyone else was in trouble, like i did with Woking etc.. not so long ago.
Yesterday afternoon some journo from the CEN rang me and tried to lead me into saying something i didn't want to, persistantly asking if i had a grudge against Histon. Not once did the phonecall did he ask for permission to use anything i said, and actually misquoted me on the article!
Then today on the back page of the CEN, i'm called a liar and have Gareth Baldwin denying everything that was in the article. He contradicts himself in one sentence saying that the players non-payment of Sept was 'rubbish', then adds 'they'll be paid in October' - well that's not September!
The journo forgot to ask about Lance Key's redundancy, which is FACT. The figures published about their financial state are to the dot and are available in the public domain, something else 'missed' by the CEN. Also, about the sponsors pulling out, one of their recent main sponsors were rumoured to have paid for 300 season tickets last season, of which they haven't done this campaign, hence the big fall in attendances, which are 22% down, not 25% as reported (hardly the basis for suing someone!). One recent sponsor of Histon has also been convicted of fraud in a court of law.
I have also today spoke to an employee of Histon FC who has confirmed that the article is true, and that it's the duty of any company in Histon's financial state to consider administration as they are heavily losing money.
Sadly Rivals have took it upon themselves to remove the story and Histon have now issued a statement slating me in all but name, and actually don't recognise the difference between slander and libel in the article! Muppets.
It has also come to light that a 'holding company' has been set up, putting all the assets in the holding company, meaning should the original business go tits up they can sell the assets from the original company from the new one, which i believe is a 'legal loophole'? Hardly the actions of a club not in financial trouble."
I'd hope for your sakes that none of this is true, but honestly I think it would be very foolish of you to just take as red that everything in your garden is rosey, look at the evidence and at least ask some serching questions before it's too late...

I expect that to continue.

To be honest, I have heard certain rumours which I haven't put up here regarding certain Histon team members as well as on your finances, but I know they are just rumours and despite being a Cambridge United fan I am not on a wind up so don't intend to voice them. I didn't claim to "know" anything, I was just suggesting that if I had lots and lots of smoke in my house I would at least go and check that the kitchen wasn't on fire. Let me put it another way, if you look at the Histons losses vs turnover as well as the low and falling gates, does that not worry you at all? does it not suprise you that despite these two fundamental factors (which are public knowledge and not 'opinion' or 'rumour') that the chairman says that 'everything is fine'? Don't get me wrong, Histon has obviously been (and I assume still is) run very well by a good backroom team. But in light of all this current talk I would personally be asking a lot more questions than your fans seem to be. If you're happy with one mans word despite growing evidence to the contrary then good for you, you can go back to digging at people for spelling/typing errors.

To those Histon fans saying everything is just fine and the entire article is nonsense...
I urge you to get a copy of Histon's accounts and see how much money the club is losing, and then tell me everything is ok. Those cold, hard numbers speak louder than any voice on here, any article on a website or any statement from your chairman.
If you are in trouble, it would still be in Baldwin's interest to 'spin' things a bit, because acknowledging any kind of financial hardship will have sponsors and other investors running a mile. Everything must be presented as 'fine' even when it is not.
Please do not see this as another 'us against them' issue. Look at the numbers, look at your falling income...and then consider the likely outcome.

To be honest, Mike, it matters very little whether you care what I say or not.
I'm stunned that you literally don't care that your club is losing money, and lots of it. We did care and still ended up in the sh*t.
On the basis of the attitude of most on here, and I mean most, I'd be hard pushed to have any sympathy if things did go wrong, or are in the process of going wrong. If you won't even look at the sums and see they don't add up...

Dont twist my words to make me sound like the bad person.
Nobody on this board wants you here so dont bother. nobody is interested in what you have to say, we know we need more fans and more funds we dont need people like you saying it over and over again.
Just because we are low on money doesnt mean were going into administration. You worry about your club and we shall worry about ours.

I have heard from an official source that hill partnerships paid their annual 6 figure sponsorship up front in July so rumours of them pulling out are as true as all the other lies being spread by Camb Utd fans who seem obsessed by Histon FC!
Our nosy neighbours have tried to make another point which is wrong. Histon football club holdings Ltd was set up in 1962 and holds the land and buildings in trust so its not new its how its been for 46 years!!
And for the record the players were paid yesterday the first of the month the day they are always paid every month.
