Brilliant win for you guys - makes it even tighter up around the top now, if you win your game in hand you'd be just a point off the lead. If we can both keep this form up then the matches over the festive period should be real hum-dingers and a bit of added value, hopefully a sell out for both of them.
Crawley are a very difficult team to beat and not many sides will do it this season.

Well having just listened to Steve Evans comments after the game I've got to say I'm chuffed. Before the game I'd have taken a draw butwe defended like heroes for the first 35 minutes and still managed some chances. They missed their chances (not even hitting the target) and were not in it in the 2nd hald, The goal came from great (on the deck work) from Josh, Evans told Setanta viewers at the Ebbsfleet game that the way to beat Histon was not hoofing long but getting down the flanks. Well Mr Evans, perhaps he should've told his players in the second half, Crawley in the end were reduced to lumping it long. As for celebrating like we'd won the cup? Well we'd just beaten the league leaders. Great stuff lads.

I'm surprised no-one has really touched on the following yesterday. The official attendance was 1256 and I think that's a great number seeing they brought around 100. I'll say a couple of words about the game but for the rest read the match report on the homepage! I disagree with anyone who said Crawley weren't good yesterday and in the first half certainly they justified why they are top of the table. If Cook would have had his shooting boots on yesterday it could have been a very different story as Pitmann absolutely battered us down the left in the opening half. In my notes I've noted down they had about 6-7 opportunity's in the first 25 so anyone saying they were poor was watching a different game to what I was. Admittedly they were poor when it came down to finishing, but apart from that I was throughly impressed with the way they played. But credit due to the lads for coming out in the second half with renewed belief that we could do it, we absolutely hammered them second half and if the luck was on our side more often it could have been more than one in the end. Neil could (and should have) sealed it in added on time when he went through on the keeper, admittedly under pressure though. And Jimpson also had a chance, when he lifted it over the keeper from a tight angle, only to see it roll wide. So overall a very impressive and assured performance from the lads, and hopefully the mass that turned up yesterday will come back for our real top of the table clash with Kettering on the 15th. Come on Histon! ;D

Amusing to read the sour grapes comments from the Crawley manager. Cracking performance from Histon yesterday. We got a battering for the first 20 mins and Crawley showed why they sat top of the league. Once we'd managed to cope and adjust to their system then we looked more like the home team.
Both teams had chances and could have scored more. The record books now say we knocked the league leaders off their perch. So pardon us Mr Evans for celebrating. It's called passion.
FGH.... as we were saying throughout yesterday's post-match cards game.

What did he say then? Have you got a link? I overheard the ref walking up the stairs to the bar after the game call him a 'numpty'

Have you heard that PRAT of a man that's called Evans' comments! He's not just full of himself, he's overflowing with **** We did not play long, it was just direct. Difference. And we're celebrating because we've won against a very good side. What a muppet. I've never heard such a sarcastic and idiotic man. 'We were totally dominant'. Nope, you were fairly dominant. He can say what he likes, either way, we're going to slag you. Go back to Crawley Mr. Evans, and leave our village alone

According to Evans (sorry...that should be a very small e to counter it's ego) our side is full of six foot three players. Wonder what Muzza,Damo,Lanre and Josh think of that ;D Always a sore loser. Crawley were impressive in the first half and not much of a team in the second. As for the celebrations...its called passion. Evans is a sad man!

By the way, I forgot to add. Mousepusher, did you enjoy your day out yesterday? Yes! It was great! It was wonderful, the whole thing. I loved the singing from the end by the goal. I don't know much about football, but I was really impressed by some of the moves of the Histon players. Some seemed to be real genius, but then something would happen, or there wouldn't be someone in the space so they weren't always able to benefit from them. I thought Histon seemed to be better than Crawley tho. Not just the goal but they seemed to be quicker and more switched on. I was amazed by the way our goalkeeper came all the way up from the other end to take that kick. I was worried that Crawley would suddenly kick it down into the unattended goal, but luckily that didn't happen. I felt the whole thing tapped into some instinct, as everyone reacted so quickly when Histon scored that goal. I wished I'd brought a camera to capture the look on the seven year olds face at that moment. It was a little long for the little girl who got a bit figitty towards the end, but overall it was a huge success!
