By the way, I forgot to add. Mousepusher, did you enjoy your day out yesterday? Yes! It was great! It was wonderful, the whole thing. I loved the singing from the end by the goal. I don't know much about football, but I was really impressed by some of the moves of the Histon players. Some seemed to be real genius, but then something would happen, or there wouldn't be someone in the space so they weren't always able to benefit from them. I thought Histon seemed to be better than Crawley tho. Not just the goal but they seemed to be quicker and more switched on. I was amazed by the way our goalkeeper came all the way up from the other end to take that kick. I was worried that Crawley would suddenly kick it down into the unattended goal, but luckily that didn't happen. I felt the whole thing tapped into some instinct, as everyone reacted so quickly when Histon scored that goal. I wished I'd brought a camera to capture the look on the seven year olds face at that moment. It was a little long for the little girl who got a bit figitty towards the end, but overall it was a huge success! brilliant to hear you enjoyed it, hopefully you will be returning in the future? ;D

We have just been discussing coming to the Kettering game in November. I think it will partly depend on the weather on the day. Yesterday was a particularly lovely afternoon. Do you think we will beat Kettering?

it will be an exiting game for sure, only 1 more league game before Kettering visit, we should both be in the the top 5, should be a great game with a decent atmosphere. They should bring around at least 300 down as it only 40 mins up the A14

It bodes to be an even closer game than this weekends one. Wouldn't like to guess either way, but if you thought Crawley was an entertaining game then this will be close!
Plus I would have thought they will bring a lot of fans so it should be a good game. A local(ish) derby as well, they are not far away from us and we are both near the top of the table so it looks to be like a real end to ender!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it though! ;D

Tom - Kettering brought 315 fans for us on a Bank Holiday, for a game which was on TV after they'd drawn thier first four matches of the season, so you'd think being top of the table they'd bring a bit more than that, maybe around the 500 mark considering where they are!
Mousepusher - great to see you enjoyed your first trip, always great to see more people deciding to get involved with football and support thier local team...!
As a United fan I like it even more if it's at the Abbey Stadium, lol, but seriously love to see families and kids getting involved in the excitement of following thier local club and was glad to see a better attendance for your guys on Saturday - we all know times are hard for all clubs at the moment and that gate reciept money is so important.

Fantastic performance by the team, the best of the season I think. Make no mistakes, Crawley are a very good side and after the first 30 minutes or so we got the better of them. Both sides played good open attacking football which made for an excellent game. Hopefully it will persuade some of the 1200 present to come back for more.
Just to add to the fun, we had Steve Evans sitting next to us in the stand. Makes JB seem quiet and retiring in comparison. I think he acted as a catalyst, getting the crowd going. Great support from behind the goal.

Thanks Will. Local football is by far the best, and the more people we can get through in the ground the better. One things for certain: No matter what the financial situation for both clubs, Christmas should really help finances in the Cambridgeshire area

Cheers Bobby - we will be unveiling a 60-foot banner at the Boxing Day match, the latest colourful addition to the Amber Army, which will be celebrating the support of all clubs at this level, where you will find the true guts and glory of the national game. We've been raising funds for the last two weeks and are already a good way towards the £400 total, just over £150 shy at present, which we hope to collect at Boston on Saturday.
I've already spoken briefly to Jamie Smith about organising for 1/2 Histon of the young Histon fans to help us walk it around the ground before the game - so we can show the 7-8,000 who will be packed inside the Abbey that day how special the support for clubs at this level can be!
Cheers,
Will

Great idea Will. There may be times where it gets nasty, especially in the run up to Christmas, but at then end of the day, we're probably one of the friendliest rivalries in football. Support at this level is always and will forever be unique, and if we can show that to the bumper crowd, then maybe more and more people will come back to watch Histon and Cambridge play throughout the rest of the season and share in the unique atmosphere

The banner (if funds raised) will be one we'll use on a regular basis at away games and the like, but when I suggested walking it around before the game wanted to include you guys in with that.
I've got a lot of respect for the new people Histon have introduced to local football in recent years - you, Jamie and your young mates have, by all accounts, started to create a good atmosphere behind the goal as well.
