Has anyone heard anything from the club?
Have any players been signed or lost? Has Fallon stayed or gone? Any changes to the board?
How are the proposed ideas coming along?

Below was posted on HIST Facebook page earlier
'Not sure where we are heading as a club. Rogan is leaving and he won't be the last I am afraid. A number of people should be hanging their heads in shame today. They all know who they are. A nice ground and excellent youngsters held back year after year. Very sad day #jerseysforgoalposts'
Not sure what to think?!

Will admit I criticised Rogan's play last season, as he would be one of the main proponents of Page/Fallon's long ball game, but could never criticise his work rate and desire. One thing about Rogan is that he was limited where he could play, not quick enough to play wide and not really big enough to be a key central player in defence or midfield, that defensive mid role was kind of all he could play and meant the team had to play with 3 centre mids to accomodate him.
Who are the the people who should hang their heads in shame and why?
"youngsters held back year after year" - absolutely!!! Couldn't agree with this quote anymore. It's 100% spot on. Brian Page and Fallon for all their reputations never really did much for the youngsters. It's blatantly obvious to everyone that we have a brilliant youth system that all the clubs around would love to have, but when the lads come into the first team they don't shine as much as they do in the youth sides and at the clubs they sign for after Histon. There must be an up and coming manager out there who could come in and take over and get the young lads showing their true class for Histon, not the team they sign for after Histon.

What a ridiculous statement regarding Rogans position!! He played there because that is where he is most effective. You wouldn't see Sam Ives at left back or Danny Rumens up top would you??? So that comment holds no substance at all, also if he was encouraging a long ball game then I disagree with that, he regularly dropped deep to try and get it off the defenders to start the phase of play. If you actually watch the games he plays with his brain & often picks some very good passes, certainly not a one trick pony or played in one position because he can't play anywhere else! & if you are naive enough to think that Brian or Steve would play three in midfield to accomadate Rogan then you are delusional.

If we cant hang on to our better players like Rogan (a superb SLP player and leader) and Sam Ives things could get much worse for the club . Another relegation maybe or will the club voluntarily drop to the Thurlow Nunn,as was rumoured recently. The fans deserve better from the people running the club. Surely the hirearchy can let us know whats happening and show some respect for the paying customers. Or will it be more of the same...silence.

He's most effective there because he isn't elsewhere. He's not quick enough to play wide or as a forward. Too small to play as a central defender and a combination of the two to play centre mid in the Southern Prem. He did drop deep to get the ball, but bar Kettering at home, he did spend a lot of time sending the ball long. The new lad Bexfield, young lad Clayton and Ives were clearly the best three centre midfielders we had at the end of the season, but Bexfield was getting pushed out to full back or whatever and Rogan was playing midfield. Just because someone works hard and fans like his desire is no reason for him to be a key player and played ahead of others who are better. Personally am not bothered if Rogan leaves or not. I doubt we have any chance at all of keeping Ives, but Bexfield and Clayton did well and were very good on the ball, as well as defensively. As I've said before, the club needs a good sort out and the likes of Rogan, Rumens etc who were key under Page/Fallon can leave. Sort out the club.

You talk absolute garbage..would respect your opinion if it made sense, to keep banging on about him not being big enough to be a centre half or not quick enough to play wide is weak. If he was as limited as you are making out & just works hard then he would have absolutely no interest in him from other clubs I'm sure. With respect YOU are limited in your football knowledge clearly & have not had any experience of semi-pro football or above, 99.9% of the Histon supporters are fantastic but then I suppose that you always get one don't you?!

It has been an up and down season, for sure, managerial changes , players come and gone , youngsters coming in and playing their socks off ,tough for them , as it was boys v men , we battled to beat the drop but it wasn't to be, Sam Ives injury for a spell , was a blow , Nick Freeman suspension at a crucial time also, now losing our captain ! Is a massive blow , despite one solitary fan stating otherwise!! Rogan was player of the month 3 months on the trot , won player of the season , and fans player, he lead the team with great passion , helped younger players also noticed was great with young mascots, a captain who worked with his team , it's teamwork , it takes 11 men to work hard on the pitch , Rogan got the team up for games ! Wherever he goes I'm sure he will carry on where he left off, as will others we have lost or may lose.

Hang on, nobody is questioning his leadership, desire and work rate. In fact if you look back over the threads you will see that actually I have said he has ability, but didn't show it by giving stupid fouls away and launching the ball forward. In fact after the Kettering game I was very complimentary about his performance and wanted more like it. But, that was one of the few games he actually kept the ball on the deck and passed it around. For most of the season, bar the final run in, he was one of the main proponents of launching the ball forward along with Rumens and Auger. Too many times he gave away silly fouls and put the team under pressure. It's no secret that as a team defensively we weren't very good. The last thing they needed was to have more defending to do. Especially in the air against much more physically dominant opponents.
The three lads I mentioned earlier are better centre midfielders than Rogan, that is obvious to anyone without family or friendship ties to Rogan, which may well be the case with some of you. If we can keep two of the three then that would be good/lucky/a miracle.
Just because someone states an opinion that you don't like, you say they have no football knowledge, ask for the reasoning behind their opinion. If a defensive midfielder is so good and great, then why did the team have many, many shots against them from in or around the penalty area in central areas? A defensive midfielder is responsible for those areas, he should be the one taking away those areas with his positioning and reading of the game, forcing the play wide in the defensive third where the threat to goal isn't as much as it is centrally. But yet our keepers had to face many shots from those areas all season. A lot of the time he was out of position, or not able to get back in position, or actually would go and mark a player instead of covering the space and player, leaving space for the opposition to exploit.
To whoever said I'm bitter, I'm not. I'm fed up of seeing crap football and crap defending. Apparently we've had some great managers and coaching in that time, well they've not shown it. 3 years we've put up with long ball football from Page and Fallon and it hasn't worked. All it's done is give possession away and make the team have to spend more of the game defending then attacking. The defending has been consistently bad and that's not due to the young lads. The young lads come through and leave to teams around the same level as us and flourish. I saw Peter Clark play for St Ives and Neots and played so much better for them then he did us. Many people said how good of a player he could be for us when he was here, but we spent so much time lumping the ball forward that players like him don't get the chance to shine. The likes of Joe Carden this year, he wants the ball at his feet with the chance to beat a player 1v1 or in front of him to run onto, not having to challenge for the ball in the air with a defender much bigger than him like he had to do a lot of the time. The time for brain dead, lumping the ball forward has gone. Do what's right for the young lads and play to their strengths. Yes I said lumping not passing, a pass has a purpose for your teammate to get onto or receive, not have to battle for in the air.
Just saw the comment about Nick Freeman, he was poor this year. People love him, but what did he actually do this year? He was completely outshone by Jordan, Ives, Carden, Allan etc. He's got by with his reputation and the hype that has been made about him, especially after 1 good season last season. Take out any penalties he scored this year and he was poor, back to how he used to be a couple of seasons ago.

Interview with Steve Fallon on BBC Cambs sport. Sounds like he and several of the players will be here next season, no names mentioned. Disappointing to hear players not paid for last 3 months, again! More bad PR for the club.

My guess would be the signing of Smith and Mcgowen who we clearly could not afford but signed anyway. Also see Rogan has signed for St Neots which is great for him and them.
