Phew ! ..........and good luck to the Stutes at Truro . Good to hear they had an overnight stay which will help towards team spirit and a possible result. City v Dunstable and U's at Tranmere tonight. St Neots are managerless .Will they come in for Brian Page or Gary Roberts ? Brian is tied in with the Academy so It is unlikely he would leave Histon. Gary Roberts would be a good fit for the Saints as they have loads of money which suits his style of management.

Imo, the Saints job would appeal to most managers at this level and around. Therefore both Roberts and Page might be considered candidates. Both are currently with clubs struggling desperately. It is only natural that they would seriously consider the job if the carrot is dangled. Loyalty doesn't come into it! City forum members believe their man will stay because of the prospect of good times ahead. What? Watch this space.

I have heard Gary Roberts was an applicant for the St Neots job but will not be appointed. There is a suggestion on St Neots forum he is their new manager by a supporter.Shocking result for the stutes at Truro and this will dent confidence for the big derby with City's strugglers. City have won just two games in the last twenty and the strikers are getting the blame. Both teams not in great shape and I fancy Histon as they are on a revenge mission and their fans will get behind them. A fixture to relish and should get a bumper gate. C'mon Histon do it for your loyal supporters including those who care but don't come anymore.

If Gary Roberts left City it would be a blow for them, but a chance for new ideas as they have stagnated recently. It wouldn't surprise me if Brian was in the running. Proven record of developing youngsters and he can get players in that are better than the money they are on, so he'd be able to attract decent players and pay them, which he can't really do here. Reckon St Neots would love to have our youth setup, especially with all their cash they can throw around at it and the first team.

St Neots have appointed David Batch as there next manager and he seems the perfect fit for their latest plans to use experienced players with an accent on bringing through young talent from their academy. Looking at their forum the fans seem pleased and although from a level down ( AFC Sudbury ) he has accumulated a lot of experience since managing City when only 28 years of age. No wonder he failed to impress at City. Brian Page was never mentioned but I am sure he was approached . Gary Roberts was mentioned as a possible manager on their forum but the saints supporters had no interest in that rumour. The big bonus is Brian stays and continues his good work. It's obvious with a stable situation off the pitch Brian could get the club fighting for the title.

Be interesting to see what Sudbury do, they seem to have been doing well under his leadership. I wonder who started all the rumours over there that Gary Roberts would be leaving? Be interesting to see if the City fans are relieved or not that Roberts stayed. They've not done well this season. What academy at St Neots? My lad played against their under 11's in the Cambs League. Wasn't impressed with their players, quality or how they played.

Under 11's ewc? Not an age when judgement should be made, surely? I remember when my boy played at Under 11 level. There were very good, good, average, and poor kids performing at the same level. Too early to judge. He ended up playing in the NPL, and many who played in that same Peterborough Junior Alliance never played again beyond the age of about 13. With respect, too much pressure is placed on boys of that age, and the biggest culprits are PARENTS!!!! I understood that St Neots had some sort of Academy structure, which Ian Parr managed with great success, and if that is the case, I'm sure David Batch will progress it very well, as that is one of his best attributes. I put David Batch alongside Brian Page in that respect, which makes me believe that Brian might well have been a consideration too for the Saints job. Equally, it makes me very suspicious of the rumours of Roberts being in the frame. It doesn't make sense that the three of them could ever be considered remotely similar in management style. Mike Kearns was clearly looking for a particular model. That is my opinion only, without any inside knowledge or outside influence, let me hasten to add. Why does he show so much interest in St Neots, some may ask. Special affection, as I played for them '80-82.

What is Gary Roberts situation at City? They've not had a great season. Is he safe and the fans happy with him? Is it a case of treading water until next season when they move to Sawston? It'd be interesting to know if Brian gets any interest from elsewhere. At Under 11 they can be taught to not kick and chase though.

Very true ewc, but that is the first year, is it not, when they first play competitive football, and as we're only halfway through the season, maybe their Under 11's manager has not yet been judged by the Football Club. As regards your other point, not interested in him or them any more, but he has the safest job in football.

David Batch got off to a good start with a 3 1 away win at Dunstable . The stutes battled hard but unsurprisingly succumbed to Corby . City lost to Hitchin and their is unrest amongst the fans about the poor results this season. City fans are a placid crew and they have been voting with their feet as there was only 207 there recently for a Saturday fixture. I am not so sure Gary Roberts job is that safe . I think he must be on contract and City can't afford to release him .
